Scott sighed and checked his watch for the fifth time in ten minutes. He had promised Liam that he would help him with some small troubles in Beacon Hills. Liam had said that he had caught the scent of a new werewolf in lacrosse training. They needed to check it out to make sure it posed no threat.

So they decided to break into school for the hundredth time and find out who it is by smell. And Liam is late as usual.

Finally, Scott caught his scent and heard his running footsteps. He closed his brown eyes and focused on his heartbeat. Its speed was crazy, the individual strokes was barely distinguishable. He smiled and turned toward the incoming Liam.

At first, he saw only a moving shadow, but then he recognized his friend Liam running toward him. He stopped running when he was next to him. An ordinary boy would have  leaned on his knees and would have had a hard time breathing.

But Liam was far from ordinary, just like Scott, Lydia and all of their friends, instead of Stiles. He was a werewolf. And also part of Scott's pack.

"I'm sorry, Scott," said Liam to his alpha. "I missed the bus so I had to run all the way here."

"It's okay," replied Scott, placing hand on Liam's shoulder. "You're here now."

Liam nodded and looked around.

"Are we going to stand here all night, or shall we go to the school?" he asked and laughed quietly.

"You're right, let's go."

Scott checked if there is anyone watching them. When he didn't see anybody, he looked at Liam, nodded and ran to the side entrance. He could hear Liam's footsteps behind him. He stopped in front of the door and waited for Liam to catch up with him. When Liam was standing next to him, he pointed at the handle.

"You can break the door," he said to his beta.

Liam smiled like a child handed a new toy. His smile barely fit his face.

"Me?" he asked. The enthusiasm in his voice was palpable.

"Yes, you," said Scott, slightly surprised by his enthusiasm.

"You've never allowed me to do this before, thanks!" Liam quickly broke the door, in case Scott happened to change his mind.

Both boys entered the school. The hallway was dark and quiet. There were lockers on both sides. If they hadn't experienced something worse already, they would have been scared. But they had experienced worse things.

They had done plenty of scary things. They protected one of their friends from unstoppable ninja spirits, they had fought vicious Berserkers and faced their biggest fears. So a little darkness wasn't going to scare them.

They went to the boy's lacrosse locker room. Immediately all sorts of scents reached their noses. Sweat, clay, but also shampoo, perfume and menthol chewing gum glued to the bottom of the sink.

Scott took a deep breath, but he still didn't smell any werewolf.

Without turning to Liam he said: "I can't find it this way. We have to smell every jersey one by one." Then he went to the nearest locker, took out the jersey and sniffed at it. When he was sure that the owner of this jersey wasn't a werewolf, he put it back and went to the next locker.

They both began sniffing jerseys until they put back the last one. Liam looked at Scott. He understood what this might suggest, and nodded.

He opened the door and went to the girl’s locker room. Scents there were much different. Somehow nicer. There was definitely more perfumes and shampoos than in the  boy's locker room. But despite all the scents, they both caught the one they were looking for – werewolf scent.

They shared another very significant look and followed the scent. It led them to one locker. Now they were one hundred percent sure that this girl is the werewolf they are looking for. But Scott took her jersey and sniffed it anyway. Then he unfolded it so they can see the number on it.

It was jersey number 17. This big white number was shining in the middle of the red jersey. It was impossible not to notice it.

Liam ruffled his hair and whispered: "Olivia Underwood."

Scott put the jersey back into the locker, closed it and sat down on the bench. Liam automatically did the
same thing.

"Tell me everything that you know about her," Scott said and rubbed his chin.

The beta frowned slightly, trying to remember.

"I don't know much about her," he said after a little while. "Well, Olivia is in the same year as me. She plays lacrosse, obviously. And... I don't know, I've never really had a chance to speak to her."

It was clear from Scott's facial expression that he was thinking hard.

"Do you have any classes with her?" he asked Liam eventually.

"Hm... Yes, I do. We have history together. And so does Mason," he added, remembering  this at first non-essential detail, but actually very important.

"Great," said Scott. "When is your next history class?"

"Tomorrow."

"Awesome!" Scott smiled and stood up. He started walking around the bench.

"We can borrow some ultrasonic emitters from Argent," he started planning.

"And tomorrow, you will distribute them in school so they lead her out through the side entrance where I will be waiting for her with Stiles and Lydia."

"I’m pretty sure that Mason and Corey will help me with that," Liam said, since he felt that he should say something too.

"And then we will talk to her," said Scott. "After that, we will hopefully know if she poses a threat or not." He smiled, proud of his plan.

"Are you in?" he asked Liam and looked at him.

Liam laughed and answered: "Do I have a choice?" Scott laughed too.

"Not really," he joked.

"Of course I'm in," said Liam and shook his head.

"Wait, wait, wait, quiet!" Scott suddenly whispered. He pointed with his forefinger at his ear.

Liam understood. He focused his werewolf hearing and searched
for anything suspicious. He could hear a heartbeat and some slow footsteps. According to the rhythm of these steps he would say that it's the janitor of Beacon Hills high school.

"It's our janitor, we better hurry up!" he whispered to Scott and got ready for departure. His alpha nodded and gestured to Liam to follow him.

They went out into the hall and looked around. They didn't see anyone and they heard janitor's footsteps pretty far away from them. So they kept going and exited through the same door they had entered through.
