Ontario, Canada. 2065
I was walking back from my little scavaging hunt for food and extra water and luckily for me, I found some water under some rocks from when it rained yesterday morning. I was having a water shortage and I was jumping with joy when I found it. I walked into my home forgetting how lonely I was for the last decade. My house was filled with vines and lifted stones and had two floors, I mean I had my powers to do all that.
My walls were covered with equations on how I could escape. At this point, I had looked all around Ontario and I couldn't find anyone, not even Five. I had expected him to be dead or had left the country with his teleportation. What could I have expected? Why would he have waited for me to come to him? If I know him well enough, he would've just left me to die here.
But what would I care? I like my life here. I had two floors for goodness sake on a house I made all by myself. I had gotten a little bit crazier but why does that matter. I'm sane for what I had to go through eating bugs that I didn't even know existed.
"Nice day right?"
I had started talking to myself in...I don't know what year. I lost track. I think five years after I had gotten lost in this shit hole. The sun was just dimming almost turning into the sunset. I had lied down on my leaf bed and my moss pillow and closed my eyes and took a few big breaths."Taking a little rest are we?"
I flinched up and I didn't hesitate to hover the knife I had lying around close to the speakers face. She was quite tall, had white-blonde hair and had a pretty big briefcase. She waved and pushed my knife away from her face but I pulled it back in."Who are you?"
"I'm here to help." Her voice was croaky but still clear. She stepped closer to me and I hovered the knife up close to her neck.
"Tell me why I shouldn't just cut your neck and split you in half right now!" She continued to step in closer."You sound just like your brother," replied the woman. My brother? Five?
"How do you know my brother?"
"That information is irrelevant to what I came here to tell you. Don't split me in half."
This woman was sketchy but I continued to let her into my home.
"Why should I not?""Because...if you did such a thing." She took off her sunglasses even though it was almost night. She continued, "You wouldn't hear the offer I'm about to make you."
I raised my eyebrow as I was intrigued.
"Which would be rather tragic given your." she shakes her hand over to my current situation. "Current circumstances." She proceeded to take a seat on my brick table and crossed her legs. I held the knife further away from her face as I took in what she had said."I work for an organization called the Commission. We are tasked with the preservation of the time continuum through manipulation and removals."
"What do you mean?"She explained, "Sometimes, people...make choices that alter time. Free will, don't get me started. When that happens, we dispatch one of our agents to...how do I say this. Eliminate the threat."
I levitated the knife up to her neck almost about to pierce her skin until she interrupts the process. "No, no, no, no." chuckled the woman. "I think you misunderstand me. You are not a target. You're a recruit. I've come to offer you a job, Number 8."I lower the knife leaving a tiny scratch on her neck. Number 8. I for sure haven't heard that name out loud in a very long time.
"We've had our eye on you for quite some time. And we think you have a lot of potentials. Your survival skills have made you quite a celebrity back at headquarters. That and your ability to manipulate what others see and how you time travelled with your brother here."
