Ontario, Canada. The Academy. 28th March.

We arrived, standing outside the Academy. I tilted my head to Five. His face, disappointed.

I held his shoulder. "Hey. I'm gonna go to my room." Five stayed silent. "You okay?" His mouth remained still as he opened the door walking up the stairs. I sighed as I continued upstairs following his lead.

Footprints of blood were plastered onto the carpet and floor. I nudged Five, he seemed to have missed them. He jolted back and gazed at me. I shook my head. "Nevermind, I tripped." He lightly smiled as he walked up to his room, presumably to get some rest.

I followed the footprints, they were scattered almost everywhere but they all returned to Klaus's room. Klaus was grunting and had a shaky breath.
"Oh, boy..." grunted Klaus, as he took his shirt off and swapped it with another one.
I knocked on his door. "You good?"

"Hey. Yeah, I just...uh, long night," said Klaus hastily.
"Looks like you've had more than one night."
"Yeah. You could say that I guess."
"Dog tags?"

"Yeah, they belonged to a friend."
"New tattoo?"
Klaus was fed up, tired to reply with a useful answer. "You know, I don't remember even getting it. As I said, it was a long night."

I chuckled and sighed, "You so did it."
"What did I do? What?"
"Klaus. I'm not that naive to recognise the symptoms."

"Symptoms of what? I don't know what you're talking about?"
"The jet lag. The full-body itch. The headache."
"I don't have a headache."
"Yes, you do. The one that feels like someone shoved a box of cotton straight into your nose and through your brain."

Klaus looked up at me, his eyes widened and his mouth ajar.
"You wanna tell me about it?" Klaus revealed, "Your pals, when they broke into the house and they couldn't find you and Five, they took me hostage, instead."

"Klaus. I'm so sorry." I strolled up to his bed and sat next to him.
"So in return, I stole their briefcase."
"What did you think was in it?"

"Money. I could've pawned it, you know, whatever. And then I opened it. The next thing I knew was that I was..." Klaus hesitated before his speech turned breathy but he didn't want to continue.
"Don't worry, Klaus. You don't have to tell me everything. I just want to know which period in time you went in."

"What difference does it make?"
"How long were you gone?"
"Almost a year."
"A year?"

"Yeah, I'm ten months older now."
"Klaus. This is...serious. Hazel and Cha-Cha will do anything to get that briefcase back. Where'd you put it?"
"Gone. I destroyed it. Poof."

I looked at him, confused. "How'd you-? I don't know what Five's plan is but, I'm sure he won't be too happy about that."
"Who cares? I'm gonna-" Klaus started to amble out of his room.
"Where are you going? Klaus?" Klaus left me in his room. "I need to get Five."

I ran to Five's room. He was laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
I knocked as Five glared at me. I started, "Hey."
"Hey."
"You okay?" I said, continuing down to his bed, sitting on the edge of the plush duvet.
"Yeah."

"Good."
"I just. I think I got something wrong."
"What?"
"I got something wrong with my equations," announced Five. He stood up and grabbed some chalk from his drawer. He stood up on his bed and started to write equations and scribbles of lines.

"What are you doing?"
He answered me with silence. I laid on his bed and turned on the stereo and hummed along. I started to get bored and tired so I drifted off to sleep.
