In which N'ijah finds out what she was missing all her life.
...
N'ijah Ellison is the perfect wife. A hard working, god fearing, and loving person anyone could ask for. But, she constantly think she's not enough. Her dark thoughts continue to hau...
Soon, she was fed up. The scorned woman ran into the bedroom she shared with her husband and the act in front of her only confirmed her suspicions.
"So it is true? This whole time, you were with her?" She exclaimed. The man rose from the bed, slowly coming near her.
"No. Don't come near me! Don't try to explain shit. I gave you everything, and this is how you repay me? I'm done. We're done." She stood in the room, arms crossed.
"And you're leaving my house." N'ijah started to throw his stuff into a duffle bag and threw it at him. She threatened to burn the rest if he didn't leave within five minutes, and he rushed out of that room, glancing at the both pregnant women before he left.
"And you." She turned to Desiré, who's smug smile shined brighter as she noticed the agitation on N'ijah's face. "I made you. I let you in when you were hurt and had no one. I was there during everything, and this is the shit you do? Fuck my husband and get pregnant by him? Knowingly, inside of my house?"
"Even after all of this, your little lecture won't do shit. He chose me. He wants me. I got pregnant almost immediately, and it took you 7 YEARS. We are not the same." Desiré stood proud, as nude as the day she was born, her pregnancy belly bigger than N'ijah's, her baby older than hers.
The stab to the heart that N'ijah got was nothing like anything before. Tears brimmed to her eyes, but she fought them back, determined to not let her see her weakness, to not let her win.
"Yes, we are not the same. I was a married woman, and never had to use my pussy to get what I wanted. I never had to steal anybody's man to get my own, and I certainly never used someone's trauma as an argument point. We are definitely not the same, and I'm glad you know that." N'ijah stood her ground, not letting Desiré hold power of her.
"Now get the fuck out of my house, or the police will do it for me."
...
N'ijah wasn't moping around like you'd expect a newly seperated woman from her husband would be. Instead she prepped for her baby boy, who was coming in only a few weeks. She focused on finishing her boutique and prepping it for the grand opening in only three days. N'ijah wasn't allowing herself to be sad; only focusing on the things that brought her happiness.
But at night, all alone inside the house that was once home to happy memories and good times, now housed terrible reminisces and bad news. N'ijah felt alone inside of the house, and didn't want Jamari to know where she was, especially now. So, she decided to move to a smaller place.
"You're going to downgrade? What sense does that make. Instead, you need to go bigger and better!" Zalma questioned after N'ijah explained to her what she was going to do. Sighing and rolling her eyes, N'ijah laughed. Zalma always had a joke for everything, and that was one of N'ijah's favorite quality about her.
"I don't need all that space anymore. I'm thinking about moving to a penthouse, or maybe even a more average sized house. I don't need a mega mansion anymore." N'ijah said. On her laptop, she was looking for real estate, determined not to stay in this house for too much longer.
"So what about your baby? Doesn't he need a father in his life?" For once, Zalma was serious.
"Yeah, we'll have to arrange something, but think he gets the memo that I'm definitely not co parenting voluntarily." Jamari had tried to contact N'ijah many times, but each time she just sent him to voicemail, or forwarded them to her new assistant, Darius.
N'ijah rubbed her belly, sitting in silence as her mind toiled with what Zalma had said. She was right; bub did need a father, and she didn't want to be the one to deny him that experience.
Breaking into her thoughts, her phone rang. She picked up and her mother's voice burst out frantically from the speaker.
"Your sister went into labor! Your niece is being born!"
...
After much fighting with her mother over getting checked herself, N'ijah quietly went into the room where her little niece was sleeping in her mother's arms.
"Meet Kiana Mae." A small, almost caramel skinned baby slept in her arms, with their signature long eyelashes and large mouth. She was born with miles upon miles of curly hair, just as the two sisters were.
"She reminds me of me. Of us when we were little." N'ijah whispered, as to not wake her up, but Kiana woke up anyways, her eyes just like her father's: big and dark.

Kiana Mae Solomon
"Hi baby." She said, Kiana grabbing her hand and smiling at her aunt.
"She's awake?" Andreas silently walked into the room, holding a coffee and a water, handing the water to his wife as setting the coffee down on the table next to him to pick his baby up.
The pureness of Andreas holding Kiana took her back to when Jamari and her had explored the option of adopting, and went to go see little babies. He held a baby girl, just like Andreas, and looked at her with love and affection. N'ijah's eyes prickled as she realized he might have been doing the same thing, with another woman.
Not to disturb anyone, N'ijah silently slipped out the room, leaving the once again new parents alone in their own world. After saying goodbye to her mother, N'ijah drove around aimlessly, with no destination and no direction. And then, she got an text. She stopped at her house to get a change of clothes, then back onto the road.
She arrived at a familiar apartment building, and gave her car to the valet. Carefully, N'ijah took an empty elevator to floor 7, to apartment 702, where she knocked at the door and waited for someone to answer.
As the door swung open, N'ijah gave them a very weak smile.
"Hello again. It's been awhile, hasn't it?"
