Little Mix- DNA
Tuesday morning was filled with more tired faces especially for the Manhattan freshermen who had made beds, scrubbed reeking bathhouses and open slimy side drains. Others had to go on silly errands for their bunkmates.
For instance Efua had to ran all the way to the senior floor of the Art's block to retrieve her bunkmate's cardigan which she had claimed she couldn't step out of the house without. It was something clearly stupid to do since she wasn't done with both her house chores and other duties. She had to do all that in fifteen minutes in order to make it to the bathhouse to shower before it was locked.
Worst part was that she couldn't complain, I mean who wanted trouble?
Breakfast was a hearty meal of Tom Brown with wheat bread. If you arrived late, your bread would have been eaten by someone. Manhattan freshmen were the victims and they could see the victorious looks on the faces of the Florida freshmen who were in their house now.
Right after breakfast, Ciarra walked all the way to the infirmary with her best friend a few minutes before the bell for Start Lesson rung.
She opened the double glass doors that led to the waiting area and was greeted by the fresh smell of disinfectant and detergent. The beds in the main ward were now empty and she spotted the nurse from the previous morning. Nurse Sandra's shift must be over.
" Hey there." She greets with a warm smile from the stack of folders she was arranging.
" Good morning." Ciarra greeted.
" Oh, you're here to see him." She says with a knowing look, " You're the first to visit him today you know?"
" Honestly, he isn't awake now. He just started to sleep when the sun appeared." She continues, " I'm gonna tell you this because you seem to be the only close friend he has. He struggles in his sleep like he's fighting someone and then he wakes up and stays awake for hours. But apart from that he seems to be good we increased the temperature in his room so his body temperature has been increased to 34°C that's an improvement."
" I had a word with his family doctor and he says he's going to be fine with the normal treatment."
" Interesting." Rufidat grins.
" Yes, so I'll be expecting you guys after school then." She returns the smile.
" Definitely. Thanks a lot." Ciarra says before they leave.
All the classes in the morning were a blur since Kobby wasn't sitting next to her. His seat felt so hollow and vacated even with all the other students in the class present.
Something that morning was going to stir up the class. Sir Francis walked into the class with a permanent scowl plastered on during physics period. He had a stack of books in his hands and suddenly, the entire class grew deadly silent.
" You are looking at my face, aren't you?" He asks rhetorically glaring at Christian who sat in the front seat of the middle column, before turning to look at the whole class." I consider you men and men are suppose to be the future heads of families and here you all are scoring very shameful grades!" He yells with a bang of his desk and every sleepy face becomes awake.
" Kate, get me a cane before I loose it on these idiots." He seethes and Kate quickly scrambled out of her seat and out the door.
" I am going to cane all of you boys in this class for putting such a great academic gap between you and the girls! All of you!...from the highest scorer to the lowest!" He barks and the palms of most of the boys begin to feel clammy.
