Steve, Tony, Bruce, Clint, Nat, Bucky, Wanda, Peter, Thor and Loki were out on the deck of the facility trying to relax and recharge after their last mission. Stark had the BBQ out and was bragging about his cooking skills, which made Loki roll his eyes.
He agreed to help out the Avengers for a while to make up for the troubles he caused before. Not that Odin gave him much choice. He either had to prove himself worthy or be imprisoned for eternity in the Asgardian dungeon.
The team didn't trust him for obvious reasons, but the distrust made him feel excluded and alone. So he mostly kept to himself, just observing the others, keeping his nose in a book or practising his magic. He wanted to make amends with Thor and Frigga and do better, but continually being questioned about your intentions wasn't very motivating to do so. What does it matter if the consequences don't change?
They moved on to roasting marshmallows by the firepit and sharing random stories. Peter was talking so excitedly that he wasn't paying attention to his snack, making everybody laugh when a white clump drooped into the ash. Loki didn't laugh, he was lost in his own thoughts while looking out over the water.
He suddenly noticed a shadow moving very slowly and strangely in the river and he felt a very strong urge to figure out what it was. Thor glanced at him as he walked to the edge of the deck, making sure his brother wasn't up to anything. Loki frowned as he realized the shadow changed shape and now looked... human. Before he could speak up, a hand covered in bruises grabbed the deck and a girl clawed herself up onto it. "Guys...". Everybody looked up at Loki and then down at the girl, immediately getting up on their feet with confused looks on their face.
The girl was now laying on the deck on her back, completely covered in bruises, scratches and wounds. "Brother... what's the meaning of this?... " Thor asked Loki, assuming he was playing a trick on them. "This isn't my doing, I just noticed her first" Loki replied.
The others slowly came closer while keeping a close eye on her. "I think she's trying to say something," Clint noticed, kneeling beside her. The girl kept repeating the same two words over and over while desperately trying to stay conscious but no sound escaped her lips. "It looks like she's trying to say 'help me'" He said before looking up at the others.
"Guess we have a new mission team", Steve said as he walked over to pick up the girl and carry her inside the facility.
