Chapter 7 || Battle Begins, True Feelings & Goodbye For Now

"And Tony remember, I got my eye on you," Fury says then leaving Tony's ruined home.

I walk up with Natasha, "we've disabled all communications, no contact with the outside world, good luck."

She looks to me nodding towards Tony to talk to him, I sighed, Coulson walked to another area to leave us two to talk. Tony looks to me, he takes a breath and I sighed.

"Tony—"

"Why can't you understand the fact that I'm falling for you Miranda?" He asks me.

I sighed, "Tony, I can't do this, not now when I'm on the job."

He came up to me, "Miranda, I don't know what to do anymore. I have feelings for you but I love Pepper, you're too hard to resist."

"Tony, I don't have feelings for you. You're my friend," I tell him.

He looks at me, "then why do I have this urge to kiss you?"

"It's puppy love Tony, you'll get over it," I tell him.

He sighed, "tell me what to do."

"I can't decide that for you, you're the one who has to choose between Pepper or me, but the answer is right there. Always has been, it's Pepper and will always be her," I tell him.

He looks me in the eyes, "you'll always be my friend right? No matter what happens, you'll always be my friend?"

"Yes Tony, I promise."

We hugged each other, then I kissed him properly this time on the cheek, "I'll see you around Tony."

Sometime later in the day I couldn't help but be dressed in my normal clothes, I went back to Tony's place and figured he needed some company to keep his spirits up at a time like this.

As I walk in, I walk down the stairs to join him in his garage that I knew he was going to be in, I had gotten my own code and entered it in. I walked inside after opening the glass door to see that Tony was watching a home recording video of Howard, I haven't seen him in so long and never knew he would age handsomely.

"Tony, you're too young to understand this right now, so I thought I would put it on film for you. I built this for you, and someday you'll realise that it represents a whole lot more than just people's inventions. It represents my life's work, this is the key to the future. I'm limited by the technology of my time, but one day you'll figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is and always will be my greatest creation is you," Howard says to the camera.

The rolling of the video had stopped, Tony sniffled wiping his nose standing up, "hey Tony."

He turns and sees me as he was startled, "Miranda? What are you doing here?"

"Figured you needed some company, while everyone left, and you disappearing from the people," I said walking closer to him.

He smiled a bit, "I'm technically in hiding, and afraid to show my face to the public sometimes because of what might target me."

"Tony, you have Shield watching over you and they've secured the perimeter. I'm here now," I tell him as I stared at him.

He looks to me, "then why are you here? I thought you wanted me to make a choice between you and Pepper, or were those not your exact words?"

"I did say that yes, but I also hate the fact that you have nobody to talk to. I'm the only one here who actually gives a damn, because I care Tony," I said to him.

"Are you just saying that to feel sorry for me? Cause if you are then that's perfect," he says walking by me.

I turned to him, "what's perfect?"
