The droplets cascading from the heavens took their time gliding down their bodies. While each second, the cold breeze swiftly turned into an icy gale. They had an intent to perhaps clean and wash everything anew, quench the thirst of mother nature, provide upon puddles to play in, and bring forth serenity to the soul. Or maybe their purpose was to gift sound with their musical pitter-patter.

They came all together — at the same time, yet descended separately...why was that?

"Alright, wait..." Chat mumbled, taking out his magic baton. He tossed it a foot up, catching it briskly as it extended. A canopy popped from the tip of the baton, turning the stick into an umbrella.

"Here, take this."

The said canopy was adorned with celestial, golden spirals and swirl designs at its top. The sage green rubber handle that had just appeared, was embellished with brilliant, clear, crystals. Lastly, the handle ring, was a bell. It incredibly resembled Chat Noirs'. She couldn't deny, it was simple yet enchanting. However, the problem was...

It could only fit for one head.

"Why would I?" asked Marinette, turning a blind eye to the chilling raindrops of the clouds that kissed her skin.

"There'd be no point in going back to my house, which would take minutes, by the way. You'd be drenched by then if I went back to get an umbrella for you," said Chat Noir.

He clearly misunderstood her question; she didn't have much concern for him. Nonetheless, she decided to continue the conversation and loosen up a bit. "What about you? Cats shouldn't get wet," said Marinette cheekily, "let alone exposed to the rain."

"This cat's not like other cats. As long as a beautiful face is in front of him, he doesn't get sick," said Chat Noir with the tone of a narrator.

She gritted her teeth at the remark. Lowering her temper was no use, being nice to him seemed extremely hard. "I don't need your help, Chat Noir," said Marinette ruthlessly. She'd had enough — enough of this nonsense he'd dragged her into. No way in a million years was she giving in.

And so Marinette didn't dare look back as she wordlessly left, determined to get home despite being drenched.

But, a long gloved arm that wrapped around her waist brought her to a warm chest; it didn't want her to leave. Marinette's cheeks reddened against her will, her mouth slowly parting in arrant shock.

The girl turned on her heel and took his hands off her, backing away from the protection of the umbrella. "Persistent, are we, princess?" His soft chuckle and amused smirk didn't go unnoticed.

The melodic tapping of the droplets to the umbrella became louder, and she knew she was under the umbrella again. "Speak for yourself," she spat.

"Don't argue with me, little lady," said his silky voice as he wore a smug grin. "I'll be fine."

Marinette turned to face him once again, feeling fairly defeated. He held the umbrella closer to the girl in pigtails and tried to hand it to her.

Silently, Marinette scrutinized his lingering gaze which refused to waver.

His tender smile looked genuine, eyes twinkling like the stars hidden from the clouds above the two. The arm he used to grip the umbrella was trembling due to the cold. Scratch that, his entire body was shivering to such a great degree that a few more minutes under the rain, his limbs would freeze and fall from his body. Even so, Chat Noir disregarded his discomfort and wished to put her health first.

She could barely proceed with her indifference, for she felt undeniably cruel tonight. Her dislike for him, no matter how intense, was certainly not an excuse to behave like a witch.
