"Took you long enough," said Lila annoyedly, hanging an arm around the blunette's shoulder.

Going down the stairs she said, "What do you expect? That Alya girl never shuts her mouth."

"Is that so?" A smirk grew on the girl's face. "How about the blonde model?"

"Ah, him? Not too bad, honestly," she told grudgingly. "Adrien didn't show much emotion. His walking style was like that of an aristocrat, too. Weird."

"Pfft, and I bet Sabrina's enjoying that tour with Chloé," said Lila, accompanied with Marinette's wheezing laugh. "They're partners for the project too."

A nice, chilly breeze hit their faces the moment their feet hit the cement floor. Pretty hues of orange and brown leaves were tumbling lithely on the ground, which was satisfying to see for the both of them.

The silence was promptly ripped by Marinette's grumbling stomach. "Wanna go buy ice cream? I'm hungry."

"Clearly," said Lila with a titter. "I mean, don't you have some lunch money you haven't spent yet?"

"Yeah. And I think at this time, André's ice cream cart could be either in Canal Saint-Martin or Champ De Mars—" Marinette cut herself off, stopping in her tracks once she saw a homeless boy on the sidewalk.

The boy had disheveled hair, sitting on a piece of dirty cardboard. He had clothes torn and old; with a small, ragged blanket wrapping his arms, and protecting him from the cold.

"Let's go, I thought you were hungry?" Lila whispered, nudging the girl. "Marinette, come on...not again. Your heart of gold can't help every single person in the universe."

Marinette kneeled down, craning her head slowly. "Hey, where are your parents?" said the girl gently, patting his back.

"Mommy's finding food," uttered the child in a strained voice.

"Okay...what's your name?" Marinette put a concerned hand on his shoulder.

"Neville," he replied.

She paused for a while, reaching for something in her pink purse while ignoring Lila's constant mumbles. "Take this. Buy viand, bread, meals, or anything you want. Spend it wisely alright?"

The young boy's face lit up instantaneously, taking the Euro bills into his hands with a squeal of excitement. "Thank you miss! Thank you, thank you!"

She chuckled. "Oh! I almost forgot," said Marinette, rummaging and looking for something in the sling bag. A beige Daffodil emerged, fresh and healthy. "This here, is a Daffodil. It symbolizes wealth. So maybe, if you carry this around, you might have some luck."

"It's so pretty..." He hugged the blunette with an over-the-moon smile. "Thank you! I'll give it to mommy later."

"It's no problem, Neville," said the girl in pigtails happily.

The two girls walked away from the delighted lad — the first had knitted eyebrows and a small frown while contrastingly, the second had a wide beam with shimmering, crescent eyes.

"Why'd you do that? You were starving. I would treat you but I only have enough for one ice crea—" she interrupted herself, massaging her forehead. "You're too kind for your own good...n-never mind. We can share.

"You know, this is so weird. You're so mean to people your age but a whole different person to seniors or children. Goddamn, you're so confusing," said Lila, scowling.

"You're making this such a big deal. Children and elders are different from people my age. They act differently and have gone through different things," said Marinette.

"Although it's good, and why wouldn't I approve of it? But you have to remember yourself." Her face then crinkled in confusion. "Can't you just be selfish at times?"

"Come on, it's almost Christmas. And Christmas, is a time of giving," she told her.

Lila flared her nose and said, "Then I'm giving up, cause that's absolute bs."

Marinette replied with a snort, and didn't bother arguing as they had already arrived at Canal Saint-Martin. They stood in front of the cart, hearing the ice cream man's gleeful song.

"My name is André, André, Glacier! The sweetheart matchmaker!" he sang, ringing his bell, "with one scoop or two, I'll find up for you, with magical ice cream flavors!"

"Nathaniel and Marc, boyfriends for eternity! For you, coconut, blue moon, and cherry," said André merrily.

"Thanks, André!" They walked to a bench, feeding each other with lovestruck eyes.

"Gilbert and Esmé, the cutest couple I've ever seen! Like every other relationship, you two deserve the yummiest flavors of ice cream! Strawberry, mint, and chocolate! For a connection that is simply immaculate."

"Thank you, André," said the two, giving their payment, and giggling in excitement.

"Lila and Marinette, one of my favorite customers! Now, what flavored ice cream do you wish I serve?"

"Any will do. We'll share," Lila told him, rubbing her nape.

"Pistachio like your eyes, blueberry like your hair, and peach, like your skin. Your bond is strong and will last forever, even though you two might not be kin." André handed them the cone, adding a vanilla biscuit, and two spoons on top.

"Yum." Marinette licked her lips.

"And where is the sweet Sabrina? I have many new flavors you know, cookie dough, moose, buttered pecan, and matcha!" the vendor exclaimed. "She might like them."

"With her 'girlfriend'," said Marinette jokingly, doing air quotes.

Lila took her wallet, realizing she was short on a Euro coin. "Oh no," said Lila awkwardly.

André chuckled and said, "Oh! Don't worry about I—"

All their heads shot up, wearing on bewildered expressions once they heard the loud slam of a car door. But it wasn't just a car — it was a charcoal-colored limousine. A certain model was jogging from it, going towards the cart.

"Here," said an attractive voice, handing a single bill worth five Euros. "Keep the change."

"Thank you, er— is this nice man your friend?" Monsieur André asked.

Before Marinette could answer, the model responded immediately. "Yes, I am."

The three walked away to the railing, fixating their eyes on the water beneath the bridge. Neither of them wanted to speak up. Lila and Marinette only ate the ice cream sheepishly. The blunette didn't know whether to thank him, or to ask why he did so.

She ended up choosing the latter first. "Why'd you do that?"

Adrien thought for a moment. "I saw that thing you did for the homeless boy" —he turned to her, arm leaning on the green railing— "and I guess this is your kindness coming back to you."

Lila hit the other's ribcage teasingly, and she wasn't even trying to be discreet. "This tastes good, thanks, Adrien!"

"No worries, what was your name again?" he asked kindly.

"Lila Rossi." She shrugged. "Certified best friend of Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

"Well, that's all I wanted to do, I'll take my leave now. Do enjoy your ice cream." He walked away slowly, head turning to his shoulder. And with a raise of the arm, he said, "It was nice meeting you, Marinette."
