Jungkook was surprised.

Even after all this time, the old house was still here. Still standing like some ominous presence in the neighborhood that didn't belong. The feeling of regret was immediate. He didn't want to be here. Jungkook did not want to do this, but he knew he had to. If he didn't, what hope would there be for not only his future, but Jimin and their pup. This wasn't just about him. It wasn't just for him. It was about his mate, his pup and his family. Jungkook knew if he continued to carry this heavy burden, he would never be free of the hellish cage that his mind created to protect itself from the hurt and pain. Jungkook let out a shuddered breath as he stood on the sidewalk in front of the gate. It rattled slightly with the passing breeze and each clank of metal against metal made his stomach do flips. He honestly felt like he would be sick any moment. But like a breath of fresh air in this suffocating tension, when Jimin's hand brushed against his own, he snapped out of the feeling of being closed in on.

Jungkook's eyes widened as he turned his head and met the warm gaze of Jimin. Jimin tilted his head, offering a small smile.

"You okay?" Jimin asked, his voice gentle and soft.

Jungkook glanced down as he gently gripped onto Jimin's smaller hand for dear life and swallowed before slowly looking back up into those gorgeous brown orbs.

"...no, I'm fucking terrified." Jungkook said.

Jimin's face filled with worry as he stepped closer into Jungkook's space, a welcomed action as the Omega's scent flooded his own and seem to bring a sense of calmness like it always did. Jimin nuzzled the side of Jungkook's neck, scenting him as the Alpha let out another sigh.

"We don't have to rush or push." Jimin said.

"...I know." Jungkook said, tilting his head to rest it against the top of Jimin's as he closed his eyes. "...but if I don't do this now, I won't ever probably."

Jimin slightly opened his eyes as he pulled back, their faces close as he smiled at the other.

"You can do it; besides, I am right here. So, if it becomes too much, just squeeze my hand and we will leave okay?" Jimin said.

Jungkook offered a small nod, leaning in as he planted a soft kiss against Jimin's welcoming lips before he pressed their foreheads together. Jungkook was so grateful to have Jimin here with him. He never would have been able to do this without the other. Jimin truly was his saving grace. The two of them pushed through the gate and walked up to the door. Jimin could already feel the shift in Jungkook, the sour of his scent but he held strong for his mate's sake. They stopped in front of the door and Jungkook seem to freeze. Jimin gave him a moment but when he saw that the other wasn't moving, he raised his free hand and used his knuckles to knock a few times. It took a moment before the sound of several locks being opened was heard. Jimin remembered Jungkook telling him that his mother installed them to make it more difficult for Jungkook to escape. When the last one clicked, the door slowly opened before stopping as someone stood there, barely in view. The hitch in Jungkook's breath told Jimin who this was. Jungkook's mother.

"Yes?" The woman spoke, her voice was low, very low.

Jimin cleared his throat to gather himself, he felt a rush of anger and hatred as soon as he realized who she was. Honestly, he wasn't sure if that was coming from him, Jungkook or both of them but he had to control himself regardless. Jimin stood up a little taller. His lips parted to speak, but surprisingly, someone else's voice overtook his own.

"...mom." Jungkook said.

Jimin's eyes widened as he turned his head and glanced up at the other, he could see how tense Jungkook was. His jaw tight, eyes narrowed and looking as if they could pierce anything in their path and his grip was already painfully tight around Jimin's hand, but he endured it for his mate. The woman's eyes slowly widened as she opened the door a bit more. Jimin was surprised honestly. He'd expected some one completely opposite of who he saw in front of him. It was painful. Jungkook looked so much like her. Her face was soft, pretty. Her eyes doe like. Lips thin and features perfect. Her hair fell in fluffy, curly brown tendrils about her face and framed it nicely. Why? That was all Jimin could suddenly think. Why would this woman do the things she had to Jungkook as a child?
