Katherine wakes up feeling rested and fresh. Newt's arms are still wrapped around her waist. She smiles lightly to herself as she relaxes further into the pillow. Then a name clicks on her head. Thomas.
"Newt! Wake up!" She shakes him and jumps off the bed. "Newt!"
"I'm up!" Newt groans and opens his eyes, squinting at the bright light, splintering through the window.
When they join the group at the maze entrance, the doors reopen rumbling, grumbling and shaking the ground until they are finished. And the first thing they get to see is an empty hallway.
Katherine's world crashes down into pieces and her eyes fill with tears. Newt's arm wraps around her in a comforting way.
"I told you, Chuck. They're not coming back." Zart says to Chuck, who is looking into the maze expecting Thomas, Alby and Minho.
Katherine cringes at Zart's usage of words and sighs sadly.
Newt glares at Zart and turns to the girl with a soft expression. "Let's go."
For a second, she gives up her hopes of seeing her brother again but then again Zart speaks. "No way."
Everyone follows Zart's gaze to see Thomas and Minho carrying Alby back to the entrance of Glade.
"Thomas." Katherine's eyes light up in relief at the sight of her brother and Chuck does a happy fist bump in the air.
"Yeah! Yes!"
Within everyone's cheering, Thomas and Minho lay Alby's body on the ground gently.
Katherine welcomes her brother with a tight hug, wrapping her arms around him. "Never do that again!"
Thomas smiles, hugging her back. "It's good to see you too."
"What happened out there?" Frypan's question pulls out the twins from their reunion.
"How did you guys make it out?" Winston asks.
Chuck looks at Thomas. "You saw a Griever?"
"Yeah, I saw one." Thomas nods. He looks tired. It seems like he had a rough night in the maze.
"He didn't just see it." Minho adds. "He killed it."

"Things are changing. There's no denying that. First, Ben gets stung in broad daylight. And then Alby. And now our Greenie, here, has taken it upon himself… to go into the maze. Which is a clear violation of our rules here." Gally points out turning to the selected Galders including Katherine and Chuck along with the keepers sitting on the bench of the meeting room. Thomas is sitting behind Gally, who is in an argument to prove his theory of how Thomas broke the precious rules of Glade.
