For one moment, Hiro stood still in place, and the next, he was little more than ten metres ahead of the position he'd been in; his eyes were transfixed upon the wall he'd almost rammed directly into, and as soon as he regained an element of balance, he took a step backwards in heightened confusion. His first instinct was to turn away in a bid to curb his wild movements, and on attempting to do so, he burst forwards once more - colliding with the window of a parked car, and shattering the glass as a result of the extraordinary force he'd transferred.
Hiro pushed himself up and away from the hood of the car, eyes darting around to ensure no one had noticed his blunder. The energy he'd felt upon waking from his five-month lapse began to mount, and it occurred then to the bewildered teenager that he hadn't entered the preliminary stages of permanent psychosis; and that somehow, in some way, his body had found some manner of accessing a velocity far beyond the scope of what any quirkless youngster should be capable of. He spun on his heel, eyes now trained on a lengthier alleyway through which he could travel directly through - and as if to reach a final conclusion, Hiro flew past the buildings lined on either side of it with speed unimaginable.
He tore across the concrete, wind snapping against his form as he ran; hair blown back, and subsequently leaving the slightest afterimage in his wake. The adrenaline was an unbelievable rush, a high the boy had never experienced prior to this moment; consuming to the point wherein for at least ten seconds, Hiro was not afflicted with thoughts of his now deceased uncle. However, the trauma was a part of his soul no amount of thrill could ever hope to dispel, and it was that burning pain that forced its victim out of whatever rudimentary handle he'd gained over this sudden and unexplained new ability.
This power.
He was thrown off course by the imbalance, tumbling headfirst into a congregation of trash collectors, and sending the bins just besides him spinning off in different directions. Righting himself as cautiously as he could, Hiro recoiled as his sky-blue hues met the questioning ones of a police officer in uniform; the man looked over at him, tall and imposing, and the expression he wore wasn't exactly one you could call warm.
"You don't look old enough to be a provisional license holder," the policeman commented, arms crossed over his chest. "But you do look old enough to know the laws of the land, and which one of them you're currently in violation of."
Hiro raised his hands as he stood to his full height, shrugged shoulders displaying his stark unawareness of the situation. The recently revived student had just begun to realise just how profoundly his world had changed in the months he'd been in a coma, and additionally, how much he'd changed himself; instead of Soichiro meticulously trimming his bushes earlier, he had been met with the wistful image of his old friend's mother dusting the walls of a home that hadn't belonged to her, and now, he was zipping through streets with vitality he didn't recognise - only to find himself staring down the hardened gaze of a law enforcer. "It's a little awkward, but I wouldn't pass on a reminder."
"You can only utilise a Quirk when in self defense or if you own a provisional license," he replied cuttingly, eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. "And I just watched you run at something that could compete with our best high-speed railway trains. Are you beginning to catch on?"
Hiro opened his mouth to tell the officer that he was being ridiculous; that he was a part of a biological community who hadn't the luxury of superpowers, and that whatever he'd just seen was an undoubtable misunderstanding. But certain connections then began to form at the forefront of his mind, and with it came the truest extent of the impact the antimatter explosion had on a previously frail body - the differences were subtle at the beginning, waking to discover a muscular physique he hadn't owned before the accident, and without his need for corrective lenses. Then came the absurdly energized feel he'd experienced, a worryingly abnormal one for a boy of his age just exiting a comatose state; and currently, this drastic increase in his rate of movement.
