Two Heroes

When Hiro ran, everything around him became little more than a constant blur of light and colour passing around and between his moving form; somewhat disorienting at first, but as he formed a habit of practising his movements at enhanced velocities, his perception gradually began to heighten itself in response to newer circumstances. If he were to become even slightly competent with this ability, the recently revived student would need to think and retain information at a speed on par with that used to charge around the repurposed Radian testing facility Hisato had allowed him to utilise - and so with inspired verve, the fourteen year old superhuman pushed himself further in a bid to test his limits.

The billionare stood below the winding tracks through which Hiro sped, tablet on hand in order to properly monitor the boy's climbing acceleration, and eyes trained on the blue-grey haze that would shoot across his vision every fleeting second. After Hiro had pledged allegiance to the cause advocated by professional heroes, Hisato had promised the younger male his guidance; to assist him in taking full advantage of the quirk granted unto him by permanently altered DNA, and in doing so, earn himself a place amongst the many rising candidates set to inherit the title of the world's number one protector.

"Woohoo!"

Hiro erupted out of the chamber with as much grace as he could muster, the resultant force sending papers flying in different directions. His cheeks were flushed and wind-bitten, beads of sweat cascading down his forehead; but even in this disgruntled visage, a smile was present upon his features - the first since learning of his uncle's fate, and promising his ascended spirit that the philosophy he'd lived by and passed onto his nephew would not die alongside him. Hisato tossed a bottle of water in Hiro's direction, the latter catching it with ease, and hastily downing its contents as the former drew nearer to discuss the complexities of his most recent physical assessment.

"While I'm quite excited to determine the full range of your abilities," the billionare started, watching as the fourteen year old gulped down the liquid, "I'm one to caution restraint. That being said, you've set up something of a record here, so I am somewhat inclined to ask how you're feeling."

"You're kidding, right?" Hiro scoffed playfully, setting the bottle down before turning to face the man before him; dampened curls falling into his eyes, but doing nothing to obstruct the sheer fascination emanating from his gaze. He wore jogging bottoms accompanied with a Radian Industries branded sweatshirt, the kind of getup one would wear if completing a simple gym work out.  "I don't think there's a better feeling out there to feel, doc. It's awesome, like everything's buzzing, electric .. as if I can do anything when I'm like this, y'know?"

"Does 'anything' involve sorting out those smoking shoes of yours?"

The boy laughed incredulously, answered only with silence from Hisato; prompting him to glance at the shoes he wore, which to his immediate chagrin were indeed surrounded by a light smoke, and if Hiro payed more attention, subtle tongues of flame licking at the soles. He awkwardly stamped out the friction, checking to ensure none remained before gesticulating for the conversation to progress - only to be met with the merciless grin spread out over the features of his older counterpart.

"So," Hiro said, pointing a finger at the tracks from which he'd just emerged, "How fast was I going?"

"Two hundred miles per hour as of the latest recording," Hisato replied, turning the monitor over for the boy to see. "And if my calculations are correct, which more often than not are, I'd say we're only scratching the surface of what that quirk is truly capable of - and there isn't any need to worry, while we're on the topic. I'm sure we can invest in more practical clothing for your newer endeavours."

"You do that, doc," came the teenager's response, "I'll start working on what I can already accomplish. I wanna get on the fast track to becoming a superhero, and I have a pretty good idea of where I should start."
