Chapter 9: A Surprise ?

I waited eagerly for Abhi, and put off all the lights and lit a few scented candles to build up the mood, and to actually keep my mind off what had happened.

'Wow, someone's looking stunning. So my choice in sarees isn't that bad.', a voice said behind me.

I turned to find Abhi locking the door of our room.

'Abhi !!!!!!', I screamed, ran towards him and collapsed into a long, and tight hug.

'Baby, what happened ? Why are you crying ?', he asked me as tears escaped my eyes unwillingly.

'Nothing.', I said embracing him even tightly.

'Something has surely happened.  What's the matter baby ? Tell me, na. Have I done something ?', he asked with an expression of worry.

He handed me a glass of juice that he had in his hands earlier. I drank it all up.

'Nothing. Urm, actually .... I was missing Arjun. ', I said.

I wasn't lying. In actual sense, after all this, the only person I wanted was Arjun. I missed him a lot, although I did not mention it.

'Why didn't you call him ?', he asked me.

'I did. His phone is out of network.'

'Baby, give me a minute. I'll just go wash my hands, freshen up and be back. A few minutes.', he said looking down into my eyes.

'Yes, sure.', I said as I went and sat onto the bed.

I got up to light another candle.

As I lit the candle,  and turned to go back to my place, I felt someone pick me up bridal style.

I guessed it must have been Abhi.

But, this scent was different. It was very ... unfamiliar. By the time he came, more than half the candles had gone off, and so the room was practically covered in a sheet of darkness.

I looked at him. It was Abhi, at least whatever I could make out from my blurred vision. I don't know why, Abhi looked taller and a it more different.

I felt a bit dizzy but tried to ignore it. Maybe I was getting hallucinations. Who else could have been there, other than Abhi ?

'Mr Abhimanyu Dadasaheb Deshmukh, will you please tell me what took you so long ? I would have almost slept off !', I exclaimed.

'Shhhhhh .......', he said and kissed me on my ears.

'Abhi, I wanted to tell ....', I said as he cut me off with a big kiss on my sternum.

He sat me up carefully onto the bed. By this time only one candle was lit, which he blew off.

He ran a finger softly from my forehead to my belly button to tickle me. For a minute, we looked into each other's eyes. Something seemed different.

'Abhi, one minute, please.', I said as I pushed him away softly.

'What's wrong ? Are you okay ?', he asked with a hint of concern in his voice.

'No, I'm feeling a bit sick. I don't know what is wrong with me.', I said as I tried to get out of the bed.

As I got on the floor, I felt the world spinning. I almost collapsed, but felt Abhi grasping me tightly. I couldn't understand what was happening, I just tried to keep my balance.

'Abhi, don't leave me. Catch me tightly. I'm going to fall.', I whispered softly, as I fell forward onto his chest.

The last thing I remember, was Abhi catching me.

'Rukmini !', Abhi shouted.

'So she's not awake. Good thing. Hmph ! She thought I was Abhimanyu.', the man said.

He paused for a second and carried her in his arms.

'Me ? And Abhimanyu ? From which angle does she feel that we look same ? It only means that the medicine worked. She must have had blurred vision.'

'So Rukmini, my darling ... from what Abhimanyu and Rajnish have told me, you seem to have forgotten me ... rather us. So sorry, you couldn't get to meet me. I had been busy with A..... I mean,  other things.', he paused and ran his hands through her hair.

'So, let me introduce myself to you. I am ..... no I'll do that later. First let me get to know you. ', he said as he began undid his shirt and then, her sari.

He kissed her and his hands began exploring her body. A slight moan came out through her lips, as though she could feel something even in her state of unconsciousness.

'Mmmm..... Rajnish was right. You are a piece of art. If only you could be fully conscious at the moment. Would've been much better.', he said as he undressed her.

'Such a sleeping beauty.', he said as she gave soft snores.

'Now, let's do what I came here for.', he said as he thrust himself into her under the thick blanket.

'That was the best I've ever had. You are really good. If you wouldn't have done what you did all those years ago, I would have been the one to marry you. I would've given you the best life, and the most lavish, but ...... sorry. You've lost that chance.', he said as he gave her a small kiss on the forehead and pushed her hair to the other side.

'Good night, darling.', he said as he slept.
