I went ahead and sat in the car. While I was sitting in the car, I saw Abhi joining Rajnish dada and papa. They were all talking to each other, and it looked like a very serious board meeting going on.

I was really curious to know what was going on. Out of nowhere, Arjun went up to them. It looked like he was questioning them. I was guessing that they were all upset with each other. I couldn't make out what the discussion actually was about.

Suddenly, Abhi seemed to disappear from the heated discussion, and the last thing I could see, was Arjun being hit and pulled away from there. I was going to get out of the car, when Abhi entered the car. He blocked my view. I couldn't see what was going on. I felt my stomach rumble. Something was wrong. Definitely.

Abhi just came and sat next to me.

'Abhimanyu, kai zhala ? I mean, what happened ?', I asked him in marathi.

'Nothing. I don't know what you're talking about. Anyways, driver, chala, let's go.', he said.

'I saw Arjun being ....'

'I said I don't know what you're talking about. So enough. I don't want to hear anymore on this subject.'

'But Abhi ....' I said as I was given a gruff stare by him.

'I think I said something. Enough. Is. Enough. If you say anything more, you shall end up spoiling everything for yourself.', he said strictly.

At that moment I literally remembered my maths teacher. She was the same. Just one stare could put off your mind from further communication.

We reached Abhi's house. Finally.

Then was the grihapravesh, the first time the girl enters the house as a daughter in law.

In this ceremony, a pot of rice grains is kept on the doorstep of the house. Before entering the house, the girl has to push the pot without touching the doorstep, with her right toe in such a way, that the rice falls into the house.

Elders say, the more rice grains that fall into the house, the more prosperity and luck enters the house with the new bride.

The house was quite decorated I must say. A very huge mansion, it was actually a haveli. Did I mention that, Abhi's dad was a very influential and rich man. He was a minister.

(Haveli = huge bungalow/mansion)

As Abhi caught me, I pushed the pot with my right toe into the house.

We entered the house.

This was the time I would regret all my life, entering that house. But of course, I didn't know this at that time.

We played a game. In our traditions, there are some games played to welcome the new bride.

In the first game, there is a huge vessel filled with a mixture of milk, water and rose petals. Then, a ring is put into the vessel by the mother in law or sister in law. At the count of three, the bride and the groom are supposed to find the ring using only the right hand.

It is a proven fact, that whoever finds the ring first, is the more dominating partner.

I was excited to know who would get the ring in our case.

Who do you think got it ?

Yes, it was Abhi.

The second game is equally exciting. In this game, a small pot, the size of a matka, is filled with water. In that, a small ring is put. The neck of the pot is so small, that barely the hand of the girl can go through it. The girl has to remove the ring out from the pot.

Uh-uh, don't think it's easy ! The more noise the girl's bangles make, the more unadjustable and badly-behaved, the girl is. Again, it's a proven fact.

In my case, my bangles didn't make any noise at all. Everyone was very elated and happy, that they would be getting a daughter in law who will adjust with everyone, and who would be very well-behaved.

'Okay, Sameera, take Rukmini to her room.', mummy said.

I smiled and blushed as Sameera led me to our room.
