(8) Promotion

1 month later 

"They are going to fire me aren't they? I'm screwing you my boss..and you weren't suppose to let me help." He said as Lenny fixed his tie.

"Will you stop? They aren't going to fire you." She said as she held his face. 

He kissed her.

"You are fine. And they just want to talk to you. You've met my family they love you." She said 

"I've met them when they are drunk at a ball. This is completely different Lenny." He said as he walked towards the board room. 

"Good luck." She whispered 

Bucky was asked to meet with the board of directors. Lenae who does have a seat on the board was told she couldn't attend the meeting. Which is what scared Bucky the most was the fact that they asked her not to sit in. 

He took at seat at the very end of the table. "Mr Barnes..it has been brought to my attention as well as the rest of us here. That we have a problem.." Dionne said 

Bucky gulped. 

"My grand daughter has taken it upon herself to allow you to do more than your pay grade." Her grandfather Marcus Thompson said 

By now Bucky was sweating bullets. 

"I want to be honest with you James. When she first told me she delegated I was upset with her. I even hung up on her. But after talking to my wife she made realize something. Lenae wasn't supposed to be in this position. She was suppose to be take over her mother's family law firm not mine. But I only have three kids two college graduates and 1 college drop out." Dionne said 

"We talked to all of these clients in these folders. The ones you handled on your own James." Her aunt Darby said

"And I have to say I am impressed as well as the rest of us. They all said great things about you and how you handled yourself in the meetings." Her uncle Harold said

"Oh come on you all. You have him scared to breath. James honey relax we aren't here to fire you or scare you. We know that Lenae must of seen something in you to trust you with helping her. We are promoting you. You are no longer Lenae's PA..you are now her co-CEO. You two work well together and she credits you for helping her cope with her divorce. So you can breathe honey and relax now. This meeting is over..effective immediately James Barnes IV is promoted." Margaret her grand mother said 

"Promoted..are you serious?" He said finally able to breathe.

"Yes sir. You have shown us that you deserve this promotion." Marcus said 

Dionne came over with a new contract showing that he had been promoted. Bucky signed his name to accept. When they all walked out they saw Lenae pacing outside the doors. 

"He's been promoted he's now your co-CEO." Dionne said as he hugged her. 

They all went out that night with their group of friends to celebrate.
