Soul Turned Red: Chapter Four

Zeldris hadn't slept since that day, he couldn't have. His mind kept going back to that image even though reason and logic told him it had been in his head since his thoughts had been so consumed with Meliodas's death.

His mind wouldn't shut off. Playing the scene over and over again until he couldn't think about anything else. Conversations were short and often filled with "what did you say, sorry I was zoning out" and his nights were sleepless. No matter what he did it kept plaguing his mind.

Which is why when the alarm sounded he didn't react until King came and got him personally.

"Zeldris what are you doing?! There's a hord outside! We need all hands on deck!"

Getting his gear on and heading out quickly, he followed the rest of his team that was temporarily being led by Gloxina since Drole was still out of commission.

"Get into formation everyone! Don't let them near you or the building!"

Following his instructions, they all surrounded the building in two lines, Zeldris on the front one.

Several creatures were taken out by gun and knife, the sound of their growls and of the gunshots ringing out in a deafening roar of sound.

Minutes passed into thirty of them and there was no end of sight to the creatures, but there was of the bullets. It started with one, then two, soon all of them were crying out that they were out of ammo.

They were being overrun now. Galand was bit first, then Fraudrin, soon several members of the team were going down until only a handful remained. Starting to panic, Gloxina began freezing up and ceasing his instructions regardless of their cries.

Taking command as his instincts kicked in, he began instructing the others to get their bearings together.

"Ban, King, and Gloxina! Go inside and get as much of the emergency ammo as you can carry. The rest of you! Start using your knives to stab their mark! If you can't avoid getting bit try to use your hand as a shield! It can be cut off to avoid spreading! Move your asses now!"

This made them spring into action as they followed his orders. The system working well as they managed to hold their ground until they got more ammo.

Soon they were back on top, taking out and thinning the crowds of monsters.

This might actually work! We might be able to do this!

Nononono! The others are at their base! They won't be able to take them all! A couple have already been bit! Wait.. bit? Is that what happened to me? Did I used to be human too? There's no time to think about that! I need to help them! They have a handle on it now but they won't for long! Maybe I can calm them down. But then the humans will see me... Ugh! It doesn't matter if they're dead! I have to be strong! I have to stop this!

"Grrrwrrlllll!" (Hey you!)

Good, I've got their attention.

"Rrrrwggghhaalllrrr!" (Please stop attacking them! They didn't do anything!)

"Grrrrwwwoollll" (They're human, that's enough!)
