"Devin stop! Give me back my shoes!"

It's my first time going to a high school party. Well any party for that matter and I want to look beyond good. Unfortunately though, I can't do that without my shoes.

"Why do you make it your daily chore to agitate me? Give me my stuff back!" For as long as can remember, Devin has always been there to torture me with his immature jokes. But he also makes sure he dust me off after I have fallen.

"Fine, fine." He gives in after I repeatedly whack him with a pillow.

"How do you have a girlfriend?" I ask him in faux shock. "You really give me little dick energy." He chuckles shaking his head, but I was being dead serious. I grab my phone and charger stuffing it into my crossbody bag.

"You look nice." I turn around to look at Devin sitting in my  fluffy, white, rolling chair at my desk.

"Explain to me how I got into this situation anyways. You know I hate going out, so a party would definitely be out of the question."

"So, Venessa I heard there's a party tomorrow night." I look up from my phone and shrug.

"I know. What about it." I shift in my sitting position while my sister takes the empty spot on the couch beside me.

"What do you mean? Aren't you going?"

"Nope." Straight to the point, I give her my answer. I want to avoid mingling with people at all cost. It will save myself from public embarrassment.

"Girl, what do you mean nope? You have to go. Please, for me? I'll buy you food." I know I said you can't buy me, but in this situation, it's debatable. I mean who turns down food?

"Come on please...? Just this one time. I promise you'll enjoy it, even if you don't you will have at least gone to a high school party. I mean, you are already a senior, if you don't go now you're going to wish you did later."

I inhale deeply knowing she isn't going to let up off this conversation. I can also tell she is about to throw a hissy fit.

"Venessa! Venessa! Go to the party. Like seriously, why are we debating about this? What teen doesn't want to go out partying!? You are so lame! It is just one party. At least try it!"

"What the heck Val, fine you win!"

Okay so, I gave in but she had pretty good points. I won't have as long of a high school year as others, considering I'm a fifteen year old senior. Besides, I only agreed to get her off my back. I am not even sure if I am really going to go or not

"Are you just going to stand in the mirror all day, or..." Devin pokes his head back in my room after leaving.  Causing my flashback to end. Not responding to his question with words, instead I shake my head and exit out the door.

Before we even turn onto the street where the party is being held, I hear loud speakers booming music. Yep, I'm already regretting my decision on coming.

As if he read my mind, Devin says, "No backing out now, we're already here."

I step out of the all black Ford Bronco, my brown eyes studying the house. My family may have money, but this whole entire neighborhood just screams RICH PEOPLE LIVE HERE! Something I am clearly not used to since I didn't splurge my hard earned money on useless items. I feel a light punch on my shoulder and turn to see Devin.

"Hey, um before we go in, I just wanted to let you know absolutely no alcohol. Fix your own drinks and don't leave it unattended it. Someone could drug it. Also, do have the pepper spray I got you?"
