As we arrive at Los Angeles General I meet up with Kenneth O’Shea by the entrance. I called him as we left the airport in the rental car telling him that I was on my way. He had plenty of time to look over the files the other doctor sent over along with figuring out some sort of game plan since I was several hours behind her. He leads the way to a room far from other patients in the hospital per my instructions. Of course he didn’t know why and I wasn’t about to inform him in the open. When we arrive at the secluded room he picked out for her he turns to me and asks, “So now what?”

“You did look over that file the other doctor sent with her, right?”

“Yea, I did but his findings didn’t make any sense so I ordered my own scans to see just what we are dealing with here. I also started her on Lovenox and Sodium Chloride for now. But Michael, I need to know what to do if she wakes up?”

Kenneth and I experimented with different potions to see how they react in the bloodstream. It was more for his benefit than mine but I was glad to assist where I could. Since I knew what his goal in life was I wanted to make sure he was well prepared to handle it. Of course that meant spending long hours working with him and neglecting my own studies as if they were gradeschool material. Out of everything we worked with this was one we couldn't get our hands on but I educated him with everything I knew about it.

I turn towards Phoenix standing in the corner of the room, gazing at her as if he's still baffled over the news I dropped on him in the car on the way here as I say, “Let’s go to your office to talk about that. Caleb’s having a hard enough time dealing with the information I’ve already given on him.”

He then leads me to another room just down the hall from the one she’s in and ushers me inside. It's not a typical office but it has a table and chairs for us to sit at to chat along with a door for more private matters to be discussed.

“What bomb did you drop on the poor kid.”

“Just a little fact that I received myself a while back about her.”

“Let me guess, you just found out she’s a phoenix?”

“How did you know?”

“My father told me. I was going to tell you before you left our house but I know you don’t believe in myths.”

“How long has he known?”

At that moment there was a knock on the door. Kenneth answers it quickly. There is a woman on the other side that says, “Dr. O’Shea, the scans are ready for you to look at.”

“Thank you Holly. We will be right there to take a look at them.”

He turns towards me as he says, “Come on let’s go see what we have.”

We walk down the hallway further, following what I assume is Holly, a nurse of his or something. She leads us to a huge room with a table and a big machine sitting in the room off to one side of it. In the back corner is another room with windows and a door. Inside is a stool in front of a computer, the one thing I dread. The room is only big enough for the two of us but I watch as Kenneth logs in and brings up the images the woman was talking about. He sits there studying the display for several minutes. On the screen is a whole body scan of a girl’s insides, I’m guessing that these are the scans he took of Sara. Although the picture is in black and white, it looks horrible, riddled with dark places everywhere covering almost the entire inside of her body. He then scrolls down to a playable image. As it plays I watch as the spots move and grow at a slow pace and I question, “I thought the other doctor said it was moving fast?”

“This was taken after I started the treatment I have her on now. I wanted to see if it made a difference. Of course it is, just not as fast as I was hoping for but it might just work. I’ll have to check her again in a day or so.”
