Phoenix just stands there motionless with his eyes locked on her as if he's watching every breath the girl takes. The second I turn back, my boss is walking behind each girl and resting his hands on their shoulders as he speaks about that person's individual qualities before moving on to the next one in the row. I scan the room making sure that my target hasn’t gone astray. I catch her in the upper corner talking with Carol but nothing seems out of the ordinary. When I return my sight back to my boss, he continues closing the distance between himself and my sister one step at a time while the opportunity to derail the inevitable is slowly dwindling down.

Everyone is born with the capability of sensing the nature of a person and reacting to it as if it's a part of us. Those whose parents don't embrace this transcendent gift, lose the ability to harness the energies around us. Usually by the time people in my community reach four years of age they have mastered some kind of control over themselves and their basic inborn talent. As we grow we are taught to keep our minds clear and our objectives open to change through meditation. The talent we are born with is sometimes replaced with new skills which we adapt the same technique to when developing those latent abilities further. Eventually over time we adjust our lives according to our preferred power of choice and live a normal life.

As many times as I've worked with her in the beginning phase, she never grasped the simple discipline needed to take charge over her inherent ability. Without some method of constraint, she’s unable to abort what’s already set in motion. Instead it consumes her every single time leaving her vulnerable and weak in the end. What bothers me right now is the fact that Phoenix should know this but he’s doing nothing to interrupt the incident before it happens. If he’s going to wait until she discharges that’s going to leave me with no choice but to clean up the mess. I surveyed the room one last time to formulate some sort of smokescreen. Sadly, this is going to leave my target open for the power of suggestion to take over as I can't maintain one while focusing all my energy on another.

The second Jose steps behind my sister, I close my eyes while taking a deep breath and balling my hands into fists. I inhale as much air as I can hold in one breath. As I slowly begin to let out the air from my lungs, I focus all my energy into pelting her with one emotion after another until I have exhaled the entire breath. I have no idea what it will do to her or even if it will work but I’m hoping that it will penetrate her shield and disarm her enough to get her out of the room before the fuse relights if Phoenix’s paying attention to her at this moment as he appeared to be.

When I finally open my eyes the room appears as if she wasn't even in here to begin with, which is just how I wanted it to seem. Unfortunately on the other side of the wall it feels as if it's a different story. A tugging sensation urges me to investigate, so I slip out the door.

In the hallway Phoenix has one arm draped around her waist and his other one in front, bracing her the best he can while inching their way down the corridor towards the main entrance doors. It's an obvious struggle as she continues to stumble every few feet while swinging her arms out to grab hold of his as she loses her balance time after time. The longer I watch him strive to keep her from falling to the ground the more I realize there is a deeper reason behind his actions.

Phoenix has the ability to heal others through potions he creates or by manipulating certain points on the body to achieve faster healing results. Along with being able to sense the differences in bone mass as well as many other things throughout the body from his touch. Knowing this makes me useless to the both of them as it will blur his readings. Instead I follow behind to find out where he's taking her all the while wondering if he will tell me why he didn't do anything to save her from this in the first place. Clearly he knew what was going to happen otherwise he wouldn't have been watching her so closely but yet he did nothing to prevent it from cascading into a chaotic mess that would have happened had I not stepped in.
