Y/M/F = your male friend

A/M/F = another male friend

H/F = his friend

Matthew furrowed his brow at you. You were blissfully unaware, though, your nose firmly stuck in a good book.

"Y/N?" He asked somewhat cautiously. He knew you hated being interrupted when you were reading.

"Yes, Matt?" You looked over the brim of your glasses.

"Why does that hat look familiar?" He gestured at the beanie placed on your head.

You pulled it off of your head to take a better look at it having not really paid any attention to what it had on it before you'd put it on earlier in the day. "Oh! That's because it's Y/M/F's."

The lines in his forehead became more prominent. "When did he leave that here?"

"When he stayed over last week," you replied matter-of-factly as you placed it back on your head and turned your attention back to your book.

Matthew was silent for a while. You continued to read, although not as engrossed as you had previously been. You saw him stand up out of the corner of your eye and slouch out of the room. You looked after him confused as to why your best friend was seemingly upset. Sighing, you tucked your book mark inside the pages you were currently reading and set the book on the couch as you stood up. You followed him out of the door, wondering where she had gone. You found him in the kitchen leaning over the sink, his palms resting on the counter tops either side of it as he rose up on his tip toes and then back down repeatedly.

"Matt? Are you ok?"

He stopped moving, focusing his eyes on the metallic shimmer of the sink. "Do you always have Y/M/F over to stay?" He sounded jealous.

You were slightly taken aback by his tone but decided to answer him honestly. "Sometimes. I like hanging out with him. We have a laugh together."

"Where does he sleep?"

"We usually end up falling asleep on the couch."

"Why wasn't I invited?"

You stared at him. It must've been your hearing or your interpreting skills because he could not be jealous. Could he?

"He just came over and I didn't think you'd want to spend the night being bored whilst we played the Playstation."

He turned his body to face you but kept his eyes on the ground, his left hand still placed on the counter top. "You know he fancies you, right?"

You snorted. "Well, if he does then he's barking up the wrong tree. I like someone else."

His eyes rolled upwards quickly, landing on yours. "What? When did this happen? How do I not know this?"

"You must be as blind as Y/M/F then, and to answer your question; pretty much since you guys first started working together."

"So you met someone when we were away?"

You shook your head. "No."

His face crumpled in confusion. "Then who do you like?"

"Someone who works on your show ."

His eyes widened. "You like someone we both know and it's not Y/M/F? That only leaves A/M/F and H/F and I'm pretty sure you don't like any of them like that." His hands dropped to his sides, smacking off his thighs. "I'm out of options."

You gave him a small smile as you walked over to him. "No; you're not. Who's left, Matt?"

"You don't like Y/M/F and it's not A/M/F or H/F so that... only leaves...."

You nodded encouraging him to go on.

"Me."
