"A plan up his sleeve. The young woman didn't know about this merman's plans. When she found out, it was already too late. The merman she loved... he was gone... was it her fault or his? Only his friends said it was his choice alone."

Levi's POV

Bidding goodbyes to my love, I went back to the stash of gold I hid. Leaving half of it behind and taking half of it with me as I dove back into the icy waters of the ocean. This was the right thing for me to do... I don't want to leave my friends behind, nor do I want to leave my little on above land. If anything, I can ask the witch to give me both the ability to remain human and a merman.

I heard of those tales.

Human on land until their skin touched the water. They transform back into a mermaid until their tails dry out. At least, that is what I heard it was all about...

Before anything else, I swam straight home to where Isabel and Farlan was. This... was my last goodbye to them.

"Farlan?" I started out, seeing them groggily wake up from their slumber. "Isabel... I need a favor from all of you. Just... to hear me out, okay?"

"Levi? What are you-"

"I'm turning myself in."

Silence fell as my words echoed.

So, I repeated my words with confidence. "I'm turning myself in. I took half of the gold- leaving the rest to you all. I'm doing this... for Hanji. And-"

"E-Excuse me?!" Farlan jumps at me, gripping my shoulders. "Levi, we worked so hard trying to hide- and you're willing to waltz in there with the gold we stole- all for a human?! This was a bad idea- such a bad idea... Levi... Levi, come on-"

My head just shook softly. Isabel softly spoke, standing for me. "I'm counting on you, Big Bro! What do you need from us?!"

"Isabel!"

"What?!" Isabel had deadly spears in her green eyes as she stared Farlan down. Waving her finger like a mother scolding a child. "Listen here, Farlan, I love you all- but remember what you said about that... that... uh... what was it called? M-Mating season... right!"

Farlan sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "You're right... the human is pregnant..."

"Exactly! That is why we're going to help him! Still- what do you need, Big Bro?! Anything is possible when we're on the case, you know!" Those beautiful smiles- I hope Hanji and the baby would love to have her on their side.

Deep breath...

In... and out...

"Check on Hanji... she should be coming to the shore every sun falling. Or... as she calls it... sunsets. Tell her... what I plan to do. I don't want to tell her myself... if I do... she'll do anything to stop me. She's... she's just like that."

Isabel, sighing softly, looked towards me with saddened eyes. "You really love her, huh?"

"I want to be with her... but I want to be with you guys too. I'll ask the witch to make me a hybrid. Able to swim as a merman, but walk like a human. On the humans' side, it's a very possible thing. So if it's possible, the witch should make the impossible, possible... right? Tell me I'm not just having false hope."

He swims next to me, Farlan, patting my shoulder. "You're turning yourself in to get to the witch? That's... pretty damn selfless..."

My hand bats his away. "Just... tell her I love her and I'll be back soon. Though, I may never see her again... depending on what sentence they'll give to me. Isabel, Farlan, I need you guys to escort me there. Maybe you get some reward for turning me in. I'll confess to all the crimes. Every last detail should contain me."

"And tell your human what?" Farlan asked, finally giving in.

"Tell... tell her that I'm doing all of this for her. Make sure she's protected as much as she can. She has my baby... please tell her my side of things."

"Like what?"

Isabel's question lit me with joy as I recalled every memory with her. "Just... tell her of my suspicious behavior... how much I went through just to be by her side. Tell her to wait for me... I'll be by her side... it may not be this lifetime, but if I somehow outlive her... I'll take care of the little one we would have together..."

"You're forfeiting everything, you know." Farlan says, "and are you sure about this? If you do this, you won't be able to turn back. You'll be in jail... are you sure with this?"

With a nod, I smiled back to the both of them. "Yes, I'm sure."
