"The young man grew worried- such a beauty like the one he had encountered was rare. His friends even teased him about her. Perhaps it sparked a connection to the woman... must he explore that connection or shall he put his heart aside?"

Levi's POV
Her blood still lingered in my mouth- I hated its taste, yet I somewhat yearned for more. Finally, I was able to catch up to Isabel, scowling heavily. It was because I tasted that human's blood, my rage almost directed to Isabel. If she didn't foolishly escape onto the island, she would've been taken- no, ripped from my heart.
"What were you thinking?!"
"I'm sorry!" She wailed, clutching onto the satchel of gold. "I didn't know..."
Farlan swam up, pushing my shoulder playfully. "Calm down, Levi, she's still learning. She's no more than a hatchling-"
"Am not! I'm over 100 years old!" Isabel claimed, holding her stance down like a defiant toddler. Not like we were going to fight over her age. No one truly knows how old we are. I could claim to be over 400 years old, and no one would bat an eye.
"Still," Farlan sighed, looking towards my mouth. Did I have blood still on me? Crap. "Levi, what happened?"
"Nothing," I scowled, trying to wipe it away.
Isabel Magnolia. I love her, but sometimes she's just plain annoying. "I was about to be seen by a human girl, and Levi leapt at her- biting into her neck." She says solemnly, swaying her tail softly. "I might've gotten her killed because of my mistake-"
"I didn't kill her," I confessed, "just paralyzed her for a few moments. Just enough for us to get away."
Then, Farlan chuckled, shaking his head. "Well... you got a taste of her blood... do you think you'll be okay when mating season comes, Levi?" How could I forget that? "You know how some merpeople are like when mating season is around the corner... maybe you might be one of those crazy ones."
"I'm not one of those crazy ones," Scowling softly, I grabbed the satchel from Isabel. "Anyways, we're not giving up the gold. We got to hide this- but we can't stray far from here. We need to hide, find food, lay low before returning back to the Coves. Got it?"
Farlan nodded his head, agreeing with what I had to say. "If we brought the gold back to the Coves, then we'll surely be executed... plus, we can't allow innocent ones be executed as well. Might as well hide it here..."
"The gold here?" I took one last look at the island, sighing. "Well, there are tiny coves here- it's enough to hide the satchel... plus, we can cover it with coral. Pushes humans away from it..."
"Good enough plan, Levi." Farlan smiled, "You go and hide it, Isabel and I are going to find a cave or something to sleep in- just temporarily, of course."
"You'll come back here for me then?"
"Of course."
I waved them off, holding the satchel close to my tail. Sighing heavily, I could still taste that human's blood. How sweet it tasted... yet so different. I know merpeople used to eat humans... and it was taboo now to eat them... I wonder... would I be cursed to them as well?
Whatever... I'll hide it soon... the sun was rising already... I'm running out of time to hide the gold.
