Pack yourself a toothbrush dear, pack yourself a favorite blouse. Take a withdrawal slip, take all of your savings out, 'cause if we don't leave this town, we might never make it out.

Y/n groggily sat up to a stunning display of tall mountains and crisp fall trees. She turned and saw her boyfriend of 3 years, Matthew, driving while lightly tapping the steering wheel.

"Hey cutie, you woke up?" He smiled while glancing between you and the road ahead. 

"Mmmm, yeah I'm awake." She said groggily while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. 

 "You've been out for at least 3 hours." He laughed.

"Where are we?" She asked. 

"Just barely in North Carolina." He confirmed. 

She stretched a little and panned the scene for a snack. They've been driving for at least 6 hours and she must've fallen asleep before he stopped at a gas station for snacks.  

"Apple sauce is in my backpack, babe." He said while staring directly at the road ahead. 

That was one thing Y/N loved about Matthew, he knew exactly what she was doing without having to look. She grabbed a pouch of the applesauce from his backpack and gently kissed his cheek. He smiled as he turned his head to see if he could merge lanes. She blushed and gently turned up the radio. They had always wanted to go on a road trip but with Matthew's busy schedule they had to put it off for a bit. Y/N and Matthew first met at a coffee shop where Y/N worked. He visited often and eventually asked for her number which she wrote on his cup. They went on a few dates and knew they were a forever kind of thing. Soon 3 dates became 3 years and the two have never been happier. 

And if the sun don't shine on me today and if the subways flood and bridges break, will you lay yourself down and dig your grave? Or will you rail against your dying day?

"You're playing the Lumineers!" She exclaimed!

"Duh! It's a road trip classic with you." He flashed a smile.

"Are you playing the 'Greatest Road Trip Playlist of all Time'?" She giggled. 

"Oh, but of course." He flashed a grin. 

They sang to the songs and another hour goes by. Soon the couple's stomachs were growling.  

"Babe, are you hungry?" Y/N asked while searching for restaurants nearby on her phone. 

"I was wondering when you'd ask. I'm Starving!" Gube replied. 

They stopped and found a quaint little Chinese restaurant, got some takeout, his favorite, and watched the stars, her favorite. They ate their food while sitting in the back of their little rental camper and listened to some soft music. The couple was absolutely in love with each other. It's then when Y/N knows her forever is sitting beside her, while messing with his hair with one hand and fiddling with his chopsticks in the other. There's no one else either could love more than the other. 

"You're my forever, you know?" He whispered as if he spoke her thoughts.

"I know." She grinned.
