Background: Y/N always wanted to learn how to play chess and Spencer knew just how to teach her.

Genre: Fluff :)

"Babe, I'm home!" Y/N yelled out into the void that was their small apartment.

She placed her little bag right next to his satchel on the table and hung her keys on the key rack in their kitchen. Spencer was notably home earlier than usual. She walked through the apartment looking around for her boyfriend, Spencer Reid.

"Out here!" He yelled.

Y/N walked out to their small deck and saw a giant game of chess laid out on the soft, gray concrete.

"Chess?" She questioned.

Y/N never learned how to play chess. She always preferred trivial games, but she always wished she had learned since Spencer was such an avid player of the game. She loved watching him play, especially how he put so much thought into each move. Ever since they met, he's always blown her mind with all of his knowledge.

"I thought I'd finally teach you." He smirked while holding his hands on his hips.

"Let me change real quick." She replied before quickly running to their small room.

She quickly changed out of her work clothes and grabbed some fuzzy socks and a sweatshirt of his. She came back out, ready to learn the game of chess.

"Okay, CHESS TIME!!!" She squealed out of pure excitement.

She loved how Spence always wanted to teach her new things, especially things he loved to do. They were both extremely intelligent and always had new ideas constantly coming up on stuff to do together.

"Okay so I'm the white pieces and you're the black pieces." He gestured point to each set of their players.

"Easy!" She picked up a piece and moved it over.

"Woah Woah, not too fast," He quickly put the piece back, "That's the queen, you can't move her yet." He explained to his girlfriend.

They spend at least an hour mastering the game while talking about their days. Between a nurse and a boy genius who works for the BAU, they have plenty of interesting conversations. Eventually, they were getting to the end of the game and Y/N was catching on quite quickly.

"You know, If you keep practicing you'll beat me one of these days." He said, with a competitive edge in his tone.

"Hmm. Like this?" She smirked before picking up a piece.

"What-" Y/N quickly cut him off with a sudden game-changing event.

"CHECK-MATE!" She exclaimed.

He defeatedly sat on the floor and covered his face with his hands. She started laughing uncontrollably. She slid down beside him while grasping her sides from laughing so hard.

"I guess the student just became the master, huh?" She giggled.

"I'm just too good of a teacher." He joked. She hugged his shoulders from the back and landed a kiss on his head. A defeated Spencer asked her a million questions on how she figured out the way to beat him, but she just smiled. She knew if she told him anything he'd remember how to beat her the next time.

"Jeopardy time?" She asked while playing with his fluffy, curled locks.

"Jeopardy time. I'll definitely beat you this time." He cocked an eyebrow with a grin spreading over his face.

"Uh-huh, sure." She replied, knowing that he may be a genius, but sucked at pop culture.
