It's a tradition at the BAU that someone else brings them a cake when it's someone's birthday. So, when the team found out Y/N's birthday was coming soon, Spencer jumped at the opportunity.

"Hello my lovelies," Garcia smiled, "Y/N's birthday is in 3 days. So, who'll bring the cake?"

"I will!" Spencer exclaimed.

"Pretty boy here has a little crush," Morgan smirked.

Spencer blushed, "Shut up, Morgan."

The boy genius quickly became friends with Y/N when she joined the BAU. Which, for Spencer, was unusual. Something about her made him feel safe, understood, and cared about. She was the one who took care of him when he was sick and was always up for library visits. So, he planned to make her 25th special.

2 Days Till:

The next day, Spencer walked in with a bright smile on his face and a mission in his mind.

"Morning, pretty boy." Morgan greeted Spence as he walked into the elevator.

"Good Morning, Morgan," Spence spoke quickly.

"Are you getting nervous about making your big move?" Morgan asked while making jazz hands.

"No," Spencer rolled his eyes, "I'm just getting my best friend a cake for her 25th birthday."

"Mhm, sure, pretty boy." Morgan snickered.

Finally, they made it to their level and as soon as they walked in, Garcia called them in for a new case. Spencer and Y/N paired off to go to the crime scene. Between their investigations, the two talked about their favorite cake flavors, Y/N's being  Y/F/C/F. She especially liked buttercream frosting and those sparkler candles.

*The Day of Y/N's 25th Birthday*

Spencer Reid woke up promptly at 6:30 a.m. He bought all the ingredients when he had gotten home from the case the other night, which ended pretty quickly. He mixed the flour and the sugar, tasting the mixture every so often to make sure everything was right. Then, he found a book on how to do the frosting exactly the way she described it.

The cake was beautiful, like the woman he'd had a crush on for what seemed like an eternity. He pipped her favorite flowers on top, added the sparkler candles, and tried to pipe "Happy 25th Birthday, Y/N" through his chicken-scratch handwriting. Then, he carefully put it in a cake container and began the trek to the BAU office.

Garcia and J.J. decorated Y/N's desk, so when Spencer got there everything was ready to go.

"It's the big day!" Garcia exclaimed.

"Spence! The cake is beautiful," J.J. smiled, "She'll love it."

"I hope so," Spencer blushed.

When Y/N walked in, the team was nowhere to be seen and all the lights were off.

"Hello-"

"SURPRISE!!" the team jumped out as Y/N flickered on the lights.

"Oh my God, you guys," the young woman ran to each member and hugged them.

That's when Spencer walked out with the cake.

"Happy birthday, Y/N!"

"Spence, oh my God!" she smiled the widest smile Spencer had ever seen.

She gave the boy wonder the sweetest hug he'd ever received, and that says a lot because he's been hugged by Garcia plenty of times.

"Thank you, Spencer." She said, gently placing a kiss on his cheek.

The team eventually got back to work, except for Spencer, who stuck around with Y/N.

"Um... Y/N could we talk for a sec?" he asked softly while untying some balloons.

"Sure, Spencer," she replied, "What about?"

"I like you. And I have for a while, but I've been too afraid to tell you because I didn't want to ruin the whole friendship dynamic we have and I just-" he rambled until Y/N cut him off with a kiss.

The kiss was a slow and gentle one, with Spence breaking off to try and finish his thought.

"Reid?" Y/N asked with their lips inches apart.

"Mhm?"

"I like you too, Spencer." She smiled into the kiss.
