I looked out the window in my small office to see a dark cloud-filled sky. The people outside were still calmly walking through the streets as if the sky was still the beautiful vivid sky blue it was earlier. That's when a soft tapping began at the window.

Then, the tapping became at pitter-patter. The people down below began running for cover, while others found their umbrellas. My eyes settle on my watch with the time five-thirty glaring back at me.

I walk towards Daniella, the receptionist. She's reading a magazine and sipping on a latte she got at lunch.

"Clocking out?" she asks, still reading.

"Mhm," I reply.

"Better run, it's the heaviest rain we've had in a while," she flips the page and looks up at me.

"See you tomorrow," I smile and enter the elevator.

The elevator was empty, as usual. So, waiting to get to the first floor of a ten-floor building, I checked my phone. I always have had a love-hate relationship with rain. On one hand, the sound was calming but on the other, it was wet, gloomy, and cold. So, I never really liked rainy days unless I was at home.

"Ding! First floor,"  the elevator voice spoke, pulling me out of my thoughts.

As I stepped out and exited my work building, the rain had paused for a few moments. So, I walked into my favorite coffee shop. I found a table near the window and grabbed my book from my purse. I got through 3 pages before he walked in.

The man had to have been the best-looking, guy, I've ever seen. He walked right up to the ordering area, right when my name was called. Damnit.

"Y/N, medium vanilla blonde latte!" The barista shouted.

I walked up past the man and grabbed my drink, walking back to my table. Shortly after me, his name was called.

 "Matthew, large black coffee!"

Matthew. I shook my head drawing myself back to my book.

*5 minutes later*

"Excuse me, is anyone else sitting here?"

"Hmm?"

"May I sit here?" Matthew stands by the empty chair across from me.

I pan the room noticing that no other tables are empty and my chair is the only one not taken.

"Oh.. uh yeah, sure." I fumble my words.

He sits down, placing his coffee gently, opposite to mine.

"Is that Y/F/B?" he asks.

"Mhm," I reply, trying to finish my page, "It's my favorite!"

He smiles. I flash a smile and dart my eyes back to my book. 60 seconds pass and he continues.

"I'm Matthew, by the way," he grins.

"Y/N," I dogear my page.

"I like that name," he takes a sip of his drink, "What do you do, Y/N?"

"Work, drink coffee, read, and sleep,"

He laughs, he has a really cute laugh. So, I put the book down and decide to talk more to this Matthew guy. My best decision. We talk about books, our jobs, magic, music, etc.

An hour or two go by and Matthew and I are the last ones in the coffee shop. A worker kindly flips the sign to closed and we get the memo.

"I guess we better leave," I frown, "Ugh. It's raining again."

"May I walk you home?" He blushes which makes me blush as well.

"Sure. As long as you're not a serial killer." He laughs.

"Just because I'm on a show about serial killers, doesn't mean I'm one," He rolls his eyes and proceeds to laugh.

"Shit, I don't have a jacket," I whine, grabbing my things.

"Come here you can use mine," He smiles a perfect smile.

"But what about you?" I blush, "You'll get wet."

"Well, we can share it then," He says placing the jacket on the both of us.

After a few blocks, we reach my apartment.

"Well, this is home," I smirk, taking the jacket off, "Thank you for the good night and the jacket."

"No no, keep it," the man smiles, "That way you can find me again."

"Till then?"

"Till then."
