CHAPTER SEVEN
RETRIBUTION"Is Sister Jude in?" A woman questioned one of the guards, her husband standing next to her and holding her hand tightly.
"Yeah, follow me." The guard responded as he began to escort the couple to Sister Jude's office. He knocked on the door, catching Sister Jude's attention.
"Come in!"
At her voice, the guard opened the door and gestured to Sister Jude, who now stood up and approached the two.
"You must be Mr and Mrs Williams, come in, take a seat." Sister Jude spoke as she gestured to the two chairs on the other side of the desk, the woman then walking around the desk and sitting in her chair.
"Can we see her?" Mr Williams spoke up, the man sharing a glance with his wife.
"You want to see...her?" Sister Jude furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "I don't understand, Mr Williams, she killed your son."
"We just want to talk to her." Mrs Williams responded, the woman sending Sister Jude a pleading glance.
Sister Jude hesitated for a moment before sighing, the woman nodding towards the guard at the door, who left the room momentarily at her signal.
A few minutes later, he returned, Eve next to him.
Mr and Mrs Williams stood up, their gazes shifting to Eve.
Mrs Williams' face paled, the woman squeezing her husband's hand for reassurance, Mr Williams glaring at Eve angrily.
"Mr and Mrs Williams..." Eve started, the woman remaining at the doorway.
"You killed our son." Mrs Williams started, her voice shaky as she began to cry, Mr Williams bringing his wife into a tight hug.
"I swear I didn't." Eve frowned as she glanced between Jack's parents. "I would never hurt him, I promise."
"You already did." Mr Williams seethed. "We're just glad you're rotting away with the rest of the lunatics."
Eve was taken aback at the words, the woman frowning as she felt her cheeks slightly heat up.
"He was going to propose." Mrs Williams spoke in-between her sobs, the woman glaring at Eve angrily. "He was so excited, my poor boy."
Her sobs grew louder, Eve widening her eyes at the words. She had no idea Jack was going to propose to her.
Eve felt tears sting the corners of her eyes, the woman speaking up, although her voice was barely audible. "I- I didn't do it, okay?"
"Look at what you've done." Mr Williams spat, boiling rage filling his body. "You've ruined our lives! How dare you?!"
At his outburst, Eve flinched, tears falling from her eyes as she glanced between Jack's parents, the woman speechless.
After a moment, Mr Williams glanced down at his wife, the man planting a kiss to her head as he spoke. "Let's go, honey. She's not worth our time."
"I'll walk you out." Sister Jude spoke as she nodded to the guard, the man taking Eve back to the common room.
•
Dean stood up as Eve approached him, a frown on her face as she sat down, Dean sitting down next to her.
"So what happened?"
At Dean's question, Eve glanced at him. "I talked to Jack's parents."
"Jack, as in your dead boyfriend, Jack?" Dean asked, his eyebrows furrowed.
Eve nodded. "They accused me of killing him, which, I guess I shouldn't blame them, they don't know the actual situation, but...it still hurt."
Dean placed his hand over Eve's, the man reassuringly rubbing circles on her skin. At this, Eve glanced at him, the woman sending him an appreciative smile.
"So much for outside support, huh?" She joked, Dean huffing a chuckle at her words as he brought her into a side-hug.
•
"I can't tell you how many times I've cursed Sister Jude for making us work overtime when we should be getting some sleep instead." Dean started, his tone irritated as he placed one of the trays full of raw bread dough in the oven. "God knows we need it after what we've been through."
"Yeah, I know how you feel." Eve responded exhaustingly as she finished rolling one of the circles of bread dough, the woman placing it on the tray next to her.
After a moment, Eve blew out a breath, the woman glancing down at the table as she dusted her hands off. "We have to get out of here, Dean. I'm sick of being trapped in this hellhole."
"I know." Dean nodded at her words, the man putting more trays away. "Me too."
"Well, it looks like it's your lucky day." A familiar voice caught their attention, Eve widening her eyes as she stood up and approached Kit, the woman engulfing him into a tight hug, Kit squeezing her waist as he smiled.
"What are you doing here? I thought you got arrested." Dean frowned in confusion, Kit and Eve pulling away after a moment.
Kit patted Dean's shoulder as he replied. "I escaped."
"You're a fugitive now?" Eve widened her eyes.
"I couldn't let you die here. Either one of you." Kit responded as he glanced between Eve and Dean.
Eve grinned, Dean smiling as Kit smirked, the man grabbing Eve's hand and beginning to walk towards the door, Dean following. "Now, come on."
Before they could leave, one of the nuns walked in, her eyes widening in shock as she noticed Kit. She screamed for help, Kit repeatedly telling her that he wasn't going to hurt her.
Suddenly, one of the monsters from the forest appeared in the doorway and ripped the nun's throat out, Eve, Dean, and Kit stumbling back in shock.
As the nun fell to the floor, the monster lunged at Dean, the man quickly grabbing a trash can lid and slamming it into the monster's head aggressively, stunning it for a moment.
He ran to where Eve was, the man widening his eyes as he watched the creature get back up.
Once it came to, it roared, Kit grabbing a knife and stabbing it in the stomach, instantly killing it.
It fell to the ground limply, one of the guards running into the room and widening his eyes at the sight.
Kit dropped the bloody knife, the man raising his hands in a surrender motion as Eve and Dean did the same.
