With the second quarter about to start, and the scores being too close for comfort, the Kaijo coach was aggressively trying to force the team to play better. "Get back to the basics! Hands up, rebound, you're winning in height, so get those rebounds!!"
"Yes coach!" The Kaijo team yelled in excitement. (Y/n) stood up along with the four others, ready to play.
"(L/n), you're back on the bench, Moriyama, you're in." (Y/n) pouted, but sat back on the bench. "Don't take it personally, (L/n), but you're too short, and you don't score enough points."
"I understand coach, don't worry about it!" (Y/n) exclaimed, sitting back down next to Hayakawa. She watched with anticipation to see how the next quarter would play out. As the time ticked on, there was something different about the way Seirin was playing. Kagami was passing to Kuroko, rather than just receiving the passes. This opened up several new scoring opportunities the Seirin second years, who were defying the expectations of the Kaijo team. This was the type of basketball that (Y/n) preferred. She didn't like it when teams were so focused on having one or two superstars that did everything, those teams were annoying, and boring to watch. When the whole team stepped up to play their part, it was far more fun to watch, and play. There was a small part of her that actually wanted Seirin to win. 'Besides, it would be good character development for Kise.' she thought with a smile. Of course, if she had the chance to play again, she would do her best to win, but she supposed it would be fine if Seirin won.
The Kaijo team was shocked when Kuroko was guarding Kise. "Hah? There's no way that's a fair match up for that short kid."
"Gooooooo Ryou-Chan! You got this!" (Y/n) called out from the bench, waving her hands around. Kise turned back to smile at her.
"Thanks (Y/n)-chan! I've got this!" He called back to her, and then turned to Kuroko. "I don't know what you're planning, but there's no way you can stop me!" He exclaimed and began to drive on the short boy. But that was exactly what they wanted him to do. Kuroko reached back and tipped the ball away from Kise in an epic steal. This allowed his team to gain possesion of the ball and make a shot to bring the scores closer together. Kagami grinned at Kise.
"It doesn't matter if you can copy our plays. It won't work if you can get through" He taunted. And it did bother Kise a bit. But mostly because he felt like they weren't giving him enough credit.
"What does it matter if I can't get through to drive? There's always other options." He pulled up to do a jump shot, but it was denied by Kagami, who had jumped incredibly high to block the shot.
"RYOU-CHAN!! YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THE SHOT FASTER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET BLOCKED!!!" (Y/n) shouted from the bench.
"(L/n), you're not the coach, so please, don't distract our star players." Coach Takeuchi reprimanded the girl, who pouted slightly.
"Sorry coach, I just want to help out. Kuroko-kun is really controlling the pace of the game, and with him covering the floor and Kagami-kun taking care of the blocking the shots, it will be difficult for Kise to score. I'm used to that sort of thing, so I thought I could help out" She explained.
"I understand that your intentions are good, but Kise needs to focus. Besides, number 10 and 11 can't be everywhere, they still have the rest of our players to worry about." The coach responded.
"Ah, of course coach! You're so smart!" (Y/n) chortled. Unfortunately, Kise had been getting a little too frustrated, and moved passed Kuroko a little too aggressively, accidently elbowing him in the eyebrow. (Y/n) jumped up as she saw the blue haired boy go down, and the referee called a timeout. She rushed out on court to see him. "Kuroko-kun, are you ok?" She fretted, helping him to his feet and gasping at the sight of blood dripping down his face. "Oh no!"
