In Japan, a group of 5 basketball prodigies emerged, each with an incredible ability, each naturally gifted; this group was known as the generation of miracles. The miracles consisted of Kise Ryouta, Aomine Daiki, Midorima Shintaro, Murasakibara Atsushi and Akashi Seijurou. For a long time, this group was unchallenged, but eventually, another prodigy emerged and was ready to challenge them.
(l/n) (f/n) started playing basketball with her older brother when she was ten years old. It was the best thing she ever got to do. Everyday, her and her brother would play. He'd teach her moves and tricks that he was learning, and they'd play one-on-one. Her love for the game consumed her free time, often she found herself studying the game, watching professionals and studying their game. Slowly but surely, her game play developed and she became a very strong player. By the time she was thirteen, she began playing in pick up games at local courts. Her and her brother would go together, either dominating the court as a brother-sister duo, or facing off against one another. (f/n) quickly found that scoring against such tall, athletic people was a major struggle. So when she played, she focussed heavily on defense, and setting up plays. After watching countless hours of NBA players like Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson, her strategic game improved, and her court vision was superb. However, her greatest strength was her defensive ability. Her naturally quick reaction time and attention to detail allowed her to deduce her opponents moves almost as soon as they had made their decision. Perhaps even more important, she applied her court vision and knowledge of offensive strategy to further predict her opposing teams plays. It was an almost impenetrable defense.
In her final year of middle school, (f/n) begged the coach to let her play on the team. Girls weren't supposed to play, but she pointed out it was called 'the basketball club' not 'the boys basketball club'. And that was the best year of her life thus far. Every game they played, win or lose, it was all such and amazing experience. Soon the finals rolled around and (f/n)'s team had to play a school called Teiko.
"Alright guys, this is what we've been waiting for. Games we've lost, games we've won. It all leads to this. I don't know much about this team... I've never seen them play." (F/N) revealed to her team. "I want us to start the game slow. Don't try to get the ball at first, lets just see what they can do. Play strong defense, after the first 5 minutes, coach will call a time out and I'll let you know what I think."
(F/N) wasn't the coach of the team, but she might as well have been the coach. She made most of the decisions for the team."Alright, lets go!" She yelled in an attempt to get the team riled. Most of the team had played Teiko before and they were scared. Some of them were determined. Some excited. The team stepped onto the court in their dark blue and black jerseys, lining up, bowing and preparing to play. (F/N) watched the ref step onto the court and throw the ball up; Teiko easily got the ball, but she had expected that. The ball was caught by a red-head with different colored eyes, the point gaurd, (F/N) would be guarding him. He brought the ball up the court and tried to figure him out; what type of player was he? A shooter? possibly, but he didn't seem the type. He seemed kind of like a play maker. She kept a fairly safe distance from him, about 2 feet away and waited to see what he would do. 'he's driving' she observed, after seeing the way the muscles in his legs twitched. She prepared to move with him. 'An ankle break.' she continued to note, moving with him. The male seemed shocked and enraged. 'Did he seriously think he'd get past me so easily?' She thought. 'After all, since I've developed my impenetrable defense, only one person has ever gotten past me...' She recalled the boy she had met in America while on vacation. 'And even then, it was only cause I was caught off guard.'.
After ten seconds of holding the ball, the red-head she was guarding decided to pass. The way his shoulders tensed and started to twist gave it away. 'Now's my chance' she thought, quickly reaching in and knocking the ball out of his hands. She rifled it towards her fast breaking teammate, however, a blue haired boy on Teiko had caught up and knocked the ball out of bounds. The ref tweeted his whistle and noted that (f/n)'s coach had called a time out.
(F/N) stared at the her team as they sat on the bench, she thought she might have a plan. "They seem like a team thats used to winning easily." She began. "Lets show them that its gonna be tough for them. Don't let the shot clock hit 15 seconds, take the ball up the court as fast as you can. Coach, I want full line switches every 2 minutes, you got that?" She asked the old man that was their 'coach'. "This team will be hard to defend. Figure out what your player does and utilize that. Daichi, you're on the big purple guy, yes? More likely than not, he doesn't shoot much so instead he drives. He's used to overpowering his opponents easily. Give him a lot of space to shoot, try not to let him drive. You guys understand?"
"Hai!" The team yelled.
"Then let's go!" (F/N) cheered and led her team back to the court. Daichi inbounded the ball and (F/N) began to take it up the court. Looking at their formation, she noticed the large purple man was standing close to her check. Could she use him as a wall somehow? That probably wouldn't work on him. Her eyes scanned the court, looking for an opportunity, and there one was. Masaru had made a face cut past his defender, a yellow haired boy. She swiftly passed the ball to him. If he could put it up fast enough it might go in. She boxed out her opponent and watched as the ball barely fell into the hoop. "Nice one, Masaru!" She called to him while quickly getting back to defense. This time, a green haired boy had the ball and as soon as he was over the half point line he shot the ball. It flew through the air gracefully, high arcing, without flaw. (F/N) knew it was going in. she waited just past the three point line, and prepared to fast break, even though it wasn't a fast break situation. As soon as the ball was in play (F/N) took it up the court incredibly fast, but was well aware that most of the opposing team had caught up to her. 'that's ok...' she thought silently, as she threw the ball around her body to Akita, who was at the three point line. He quickly put up a shot and watched it fall through the net. 2 minutes had passed; (F/N) stepped off the court, telling Takeo everything she had gathered about the red head.
The buzzer signaling the end of the first half sounded just as the dark blue haired boy dunked the ball. The score was 42-33 in Teiko's favor. (F/N) walked with the rest of her team to the hallway to discuss strategies.
"The only way we'll get points is through fast breaks or finding an open far shot. They're a big team, driving is a bad idea. Set picks on-ball, off-ball. Give me a minute, I need to breathe." She muttered and stepped away from the team. Once she was a fair distance from the team, (F/N) stopped walking and let out a long exhale. she ran a hand through her (H/C) hair before adjusting it so it would stay out of her (S/C) face. This game felt different from any other she had played before. Basketball was fun, and in most games, her carefree attitude transferred flawlessly onto the court. But the way this team played... It forced her to take this game more seriously. Their teamwork was minimal, as if every player was playing one on one. It messed with her ability to predict their gameplay. They didn't move like a team at all. It went fundamentally against the game of basketball, and it pissed her off. She wanted to force them to play a game properly. To move as a cohesive unit.
"You might as well give up now." a voice behind her said. She quickly turned to see it was the dark blue haired male from Teiko.
"Who are you to tell me that?" She growled lowly at him. The boy chuckled.
"You have a lot of nerve trying to beat us, and I'll admit; you guys play well. But the only one who can beat me is me."
"Just who are you?" (F/N) asked, feeling herself growing more irritated with every word that fell from his lips.
"Aomine Daiki. And what about you? A girl playing basketball? A pretty girl?" He taunted.
"(L/N) (F/N). Don't forget it. My team will never stop trying against you." She muttered. She turned around and began to walk away. "I can't wait for you to lose." were final words as she walks away.
"Heh, I hope we meet again (L/N) (F/N)." Aomine chuckled as he walked to the game.
The second half was incredibly fast paced. (F/N) and her team did everything in their power to win, but in the end, their effort wasn't enough. Teiko won, 87 to 74 It was the closest Teiko ever came to losing. After the game, (F/N) took a moment to cool off. It wasn't like her to be this riled up over a loss. After collecting her emotions, she met up with her team to celebrated a game well played and then split ways. It was time to move onto high school and thats where (F/N) was now.
Standing outside of Kaijo. She hoped that the basketball here was ok. She ran a hand through her (H/L), (H/C) and fidgeted in the girls uniform, tugging the skirt down a little bit.
"High school basketball, here I come!" she exclaimed and walked through the door.
