"Seirin high! The match is about to begin, you need your starting five out on the court." The ref announced, glaring at the 4 players in front of him.
"Excuse me, but there are five of us on the court." Kuroko explained, seeming to appear out of no where. Kaijo's starting five (and the ref) gasped in surprise.
"Haaaahh, that guy was right in front of me and I didn't even notice!" Koji exclaimed. "How about you, Kasamatsu?" He turned to his captain for reassurance.
"I didn't notice him either..." He muttered, looking unconcerned, if a little irritated. Kise and (F/n) were seated comfortably on the bench. Kise wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her as close to him as he could.
"That's Kurokocchi for ya, it's so typical that the ref wouldn't notice him standing there!" He proclaimed with a giggle.
"Fair, he does seem very unnoticeable on the court!" (F/n) agreed. "Did you notice him standing there Ryou-chan?" She inquired.
"Hahhhh?" Kise gaped. He actually had not noticed his former teammate, but felt a little embarrassed at the idea of calling out the refs while being completely unaware himself. "O-of course I noticed him (F/n)-chan! D-don't try to call me out like that!" He exclaimed, waving his hands around in an attempt to emphasize his point.
"Ohh, sorry, I wasn't trying to call you out at all!" She explained, grabbing his hands to stop their frantic movements. "I was just curious, he really doesn't seem to have much presence... I was wondering if you noticed him because you played together so long, maybe you had gotten used to it." She clarified. Kise however, wasn't paying too much attention, he was too focussed on her small hands, which were still gently clasped around his. He blushed wild rose red and stuttered out a couple of almost non-sensical words. "In any case, wouldn't his lack of presence mess up his teammates gameplay as well? Unless they got used to it?"
"A-ah, (F/n)-chan, h-hands, you--re, still hold..." Thankfully, (F/n) was smart enough to understand what he was trying to say.
"Ah, sorry Ryou-chan! I hope I didn't make you too uncomfortable."
"Oh, no no no, it's totally fine!" he excalimed, nervously. Internally, he was kicking himself for acting like a fool. 'Seriously? What is wrong with me? I give her hugs all the time and now I can hardly talk to her because she's holding my hands? And now she thinks I'm uncomfortable with her, this is just great :(' but he knew that what was wrong with him. Lately, things had been changing. He was thinking about her more and more. Perhaps at first, he thought she was a cute girl that played on his basketball team. Sure, she was nice, and passionate. A good friend. But over the past few weeks, his feelings towards her were becoming more complex. The more he got to know her, the more he felt this magnetic attraction, and he wanted to know if she felt it too. God he hoped she did. Maybe that's why he's been feeling so much more nervous around her, because he's scared that she might not feel it. He doesn't know what he would do if she didn't feel the same way. His train of thought was interrupted as the game began.
(F/n) was hanging on the edge of her seat, and the game had only just begun! Kaijo barely won the tip off, and Kasamatsu took possession of the ball. "YATTA~ Go for it Kasamatsu-Senpai!!" (F/n) called from the bench, rather excitedly. Kasamatsu choked for a second. 'Don't get distracted, stupid!' He internally scolded himself. 'Normally it's so easy to tune out a crowds shouting... why is it that her voice cuts through so clearly?' he wondered. In his moment of distraction, Kuroko popped out of nowhere and stole the ball from him. However, much to his relief, Kuroko was pretty slow, and he was able to catch up fairly easily. His relief was squashed milliseconds later when the ball was passed (No look pass behind the back, quite impressive) to the massive red head, who leapt high into the air, and slammed the ball into the hoop with so much force that it popped right off the back board. Everyone's jaw dropped. 'S-seriously?' Kasamatsu thought, astounded.
