Unexpected...

Alright. Today is the day. Taking a deep breath I try to get prepared for what's going to happen.

A few weeks ago the whole horror ended. Everyone was safe and alive. We found Hannah. Pretty much last minute but we managed. And then the most precious moment of my life since I got the very first message from Thomas happened: I finally met Jake. Actually I kind of forced him to. We continued to text and one day he was telling me that he had to go for now since he was looking for a new place to stay. And well, what should I say... I offered him to come to my place. First he wanted to argue with me, saying it was too dangerous and so on. But as I started to reason that it was too late anyway he obviously recognised that there wouldn't be any use. Hours later he stood in front of my door. And yeah, since then we are basically roommates. Just... friends. And yep, I really don't like this. But that's the only thing I could get for now so I won't complain.

However, today is a special day. A few days ago I finally convinced him to meet the others. And now we're getting ready to go. First we planned to go to the Black Swan but when I told my friends that Jake would come they instantly changed the plan. So the new meeting spot is the Aurora. A crowded area where no one would actually recognise him. Basically perfect. "MC, do I really have to?", Jake whines. It's insane to see how the usually mature young man can behave like a little child in moments like this. "Yep." I'm standing in the bathroom, brushing my hair while I hear him groan.

A half hour later we're on our way to the Aurora. And well, to my amusement Jake isn't talking to me since we left. Soon enough we arrive at the bar and I recognize Jake's hesitation. I understand why, so I try to assure him. "Hey, everything is okay. Don't worry." He releases a breath before he nods. Then we go in. It doesn't take long to find the group. Taking Jake's hand I drag him to my friends. They already recognized us and as I introduce them to my roommate they all seem to sense his unease. Instead of showing their whole excitement they just smile warmly at him. Even Dan shakes his hand. Well, gotta admit that things are already going better than expected.

Some time has passed. I look at my watch just to see that we're hanging out for two hours already. Jesus, time flies. It felt like fifteen minutes or something... But the time was obviously worth it. Everyone was chatting. All of my friends are joking around and laughing together. And so does Jake. It's great that they all finally come along. I stand up from my seat and say to no one in particular: "Back in a second." As a response I receive a thumbs up from Richy. I can't help but laugh. This guy's humor is absolutely amazing. As I come back from my toilet trip after like five minutes I freeze for a second before sitting down again. Why I hesitated? Well, a young woman is now sitting with Jake. They're laughing as if they know each other. Hm. I wonder if they really do. Looking at the two of them I take in her appearance. Long brown hair, green eyes and long legs. If I was male I'd probably think she's hot. But I'm not male. And the way she and Jake are coming along kinda annoys me. It's too loud to hear what they're talking about but it has to be something good and interesting. Jake chuckles about something. They continue talking when Jake's eyes wander to me. Still talking he flashes me a small smile. And well, yeah... Inside I'm melting while I just smile back at him. Then the moment is over and the young lady leans closer to Jake, whispering something into his ear. I clench my jaw, not able to notice Jake's reaction over my upcoming rage. I know we're just friends but still I absolutely don't like that. Before I can do something stupid I hear someone clearing his throat next to me. I look to my left to see Dan watching me. "What's up?" I bet I'm blushing right now. Great. Dan lifts an eyebrow before sarcastically asking: "Jealous?" I have to gulp. "Why would you think that?" He laughs. "Oh, don't know. Maybe because you look at Leila as if you're about to kill her." I look down, biting my lip. What a great situation I'm in. Urgh. The next moment Dan speaks up again. "Leila is one of Phil's employees. She works here for years. Oh... and she's a lesbian." The last part he says with a huge grin. Oh. I look at him completely taken back. That was... unexpected...

Hours later I find myself on the couch in my living room. Jake and I came home a half hour ago and now we're relaxing. With a grin I look at him. "And? Was is that bad?" He shoots me a glance. "Oh hush already." I don't miss the tiny smile on his face. Then he looks at me with an expression I can't read. "By the way you should have talked to Leila. We had a great conversation earlier." I gulp slightly. „Oh really? Next time I'll definitely do." For some reason Jake's watching me. Actually it feels more like he's starring me down. Did he recognize my behavior earlier? Please not. As I hope Jake just looks at me kinda suspiciously. Trying to not act weird I ask as innocent as I can muster: "What?" He looks at me before slightly shaking his head. "Nothing. Just had something like a little pep talk with Leila and I think she's been right." Okay, now I really am confused. Before I can ask him about it, he adds: "By the way I like you, too." Speechless I stare at him while he looks back at his phone, a slight grin on his lips. And again. That was... unexpected...
