THE WRONG
BRIDE

Chapter 4.

"Georgie told me you have a boyfriend" Aunt Rose says, watching me bite into a cheese croissant she baked for breakfast.

I slice a part of my fried egg and stuff it into my mouth before giving Georgie the stink eye.

"What? You were talking so long on your phone while we were shopping yesterday"

"So you just assumed?" I ask after I'm done chewing

"What wrong would it be to have a boyfriend? Haven't you been single long enough?" She asks and I roll my eyes at her

"Georgie leave your sister alone" Aunt Rose says. She started referring to me as Georgie's sister and I must say it touched my heart so much the first time and it always does every time she says it or calls me her daughter

"Not that it would be a bad thing for you to have a boyfriend dear, but I would love it if you told me about him"

"Aunt don't worry your pretty head. I don't have a boyfriend. Georgie is just assuming things. You remember my bestfriend Sara?"

"The one who sounds like a snob?"

"Georgie you don't know her" I snicker

"I just don't like her"

"You dont like anyone" Both Aunt Rose and I say at the same time, and Georgie just grumbles, finishes up her breakfast before heading upstairs. Probably going to play rock music. She is obsessed.

"You better keep that thing down young lady" Aunt Rose calls after her, evidently sharing the same thoughts as I was.

"So what about Sara?"

I take a sip of my coffee before answering, "She is getting married"

"She actually got someone to marry her?" Georgie asks and I turn to look at her

"I thought you were leaving"

"What did I tell you about eavesdropping?" Aunt Rose asks and Georgie raises her hands in mock surrender

"I just think it's weird she has someone who is willing to put up with the likes of her, and that too for the rest of her life. I know I'll probably go insane just from her talking when I meet her"

"And this is why you don't have friends" Aunt Rose says and I burst out in laughter

"Mom! That was mean"

"Just like you"

This time she does leave, and a few minutes later we hear her rock musing playing.

"KEEP THAT THING DOWN BEFORE I COME AND DO THAT FOR YOU!" Aunt Rose yells, and just like some other times, I wonder why they haven't kicked us out from this residential neighborhood.

"She wants me to be there soon because the wedding is in two weeks and apparently there are going to be a few events before that, and she wants me to attend all of them" I say, remembering all the details Sara sent me exactly two minutes after we finished speaking. She probably has an assistant doing that job for her because I don't think she would put her dear nails at risk of too much typing.

"What is going to happen to your coffee shop?"

"I am going to leave it in your care, Aunt. As if I would do otherwise. Andrea can also come and help you when she is not at the law firm. And since the customers come for their treats at the counter, you don't have to wait any tables"
