Namjoon hummed along quietly to the song playing from his headphones, pulling a book out from the shelf.

He leafed through it, lost in his own peaceful world.

Until a loud commotion popped his little bubble, and he yanked his headphones out to hear better.

"Are you fucking stupid?!" Shouted an angry man, and Namjoon hurried down the aisle to look down the row of books, where he saw a man towering over a boy, who was crouched on the ground.

"S-sorry!" The boy squeaked, hastily trying to scoop up the pile of books that seemed to have dropped. "Y-Yoongi will clean!"

"And how many times do I have to tell you?" The man bent down and grabbed the boys sweatshirt, yanking him to his feet.

The boy looked terrified, wilting under the mans glare.

"Your name is Goyang! Enough with this 'Yoongi' shit, got it?"

"Y-yes," the boys voice was barely above a whisper. "Yoon- uh- G-Goyang is s-sorry, sir."

Namjoon had no idea what was going on, but he felt bad for the boy, who looked so small in his large hoodie and matching beanie.

But before he could intervene, the librarian came over and shot them an annoyed look, raising a finger to her lips to shush them.

"Now look what you did." The man blamed the boy. "Come on, we're leaving."

The boy looked crestfallen. "B-but sir said Goyang could pick out a b-book!"

"That was before you took too long, dropped them all and got in trouble." The man grumbled. "Now let's go, I got shit to do today."

The boy hung his head, sadly putting the books back away on the shelf. "Yes, sir."

The way his fingertips lingered for an extra second on each book as he reluctantly put them away almost made tears spring to Namjoon's eyes. He felt his heart break for the poor boy. He couldn't believe that man was being so mean to someone who seemed so innocent.

He didn't understand their dynamic; why did the boy say his name was one thing and the man say it was another? Why did the boy call the man 'sir'? Why didn't the boy just leave that horrible man?

The two turned to leave and Namjoon found himself racing over before his brain realized what its body was doing.

"Wait!" He called, not caring if the librarian came over to shush him too.

The pair stopped, the man looking annoyed and the boy still looking at the ground, hands clasped behind his back.

Namjoon approached the boy. "Um, if you need a book, this one is really good."

The boy looked surprised that Namjoon was talking to him, and not to the man.

He glanced at up the man, as if asking for help, or maybe for permission to speak back.

The man huffed. "Hurry up."

The boy faced Namjoon and looked at the book he was holding out. "Oh, th-thank you. Yoongi hasn't read this one before."

He reached out to take the book but flinched when he saw the mans hand raise into the air, about to strike him.

"Uh- Yoongi means Goyang!" The boy cowered, wrapping his arms around his head. "G-Goyang has not read this book before! Sorry sir! Sorry!"

The man lowered his hand with an irritated sigh. "God. Finish up so we can go."

Yoongi quickly grabbed the book from Namjoons hands, not making eye contact as he hugged the book to his chest. "Um...th-thank you, sir. Yoo- uh, Goyang appreciates."
