The week didn't know how to pass quick enough. Our days started at 7 in the morning and seemed to end at 9 in the evening, sometimes even later. Joel woke up early in the AMs to film nighttime content and continued filming other product content in the morning. He then stayed hours upon hours editing the content with our editor. He was truly a machine similar to the rest of us, we gave our all into whatever we did, that was just the kind of people we were, especially when we were working together. I coordinated plans and assigned Joel, Marry, Eve and our freelance programmer JC tasks for various projects but pushing them to work a little extra on my plans for the Novalianossa project. Sam stayed even longer than some of us some days planning, directing and strategizing. Today was Friday and it was currently 9pm. Earlier today I had spoken to Ludwig on the phone regarding the case. He had found Leonora and we were going to discuss it tomorrow on a late lunch. I hadn't told Sam about it but to be fair we had barely spoken to each other about anything other than work. We barely had time to breathe let alone talk alone so I wasn't really hiding it as much as I didn't find the time to think nor tell her about it.
The office was quiet, and we were all glued to our computer screens typing, editing, creating, thinking, organizing and planning.
"I am fucking dead!" Joel shouted taking off his headphones and throwing them at the desk and it smashed on his keyboard. "Man, my eyes are killing me" He continued.
"I am no man, but I will assume you're speaking to me as there is no one other than me in this office currently" I said searching for him on the other side of the monitors and catching him rolling his eyes at my comment. "Take a break or pack up and go home, you've done a great job today" I continued.
"No way! I've got way too much to do. I have around 900 pictures to edit aand.." he said rolling the mouses scroll wheel. "aand, 7 hours and 45 minutes-ish of footage to go through. So, no way I'm leaving" He continued. "And if I left I'd just be working from home here at least I have your company" He looked up from his screen and smiled at me from behind it.
"Okay, fine as you wish. Maybe we could order take away? Some pizza and a few more coffees can help us get our energy back up." I looked at him while he closed his eyes leaning back in his chair acting dead.
"Yeah I can go for some pizza actually, I totally forgot that I'm starving. God, yes, food food food." He muttered with his eyes closed only peaking at me in the beginning.
"Alright I'll go tell Sam, we can all take a little break" I exited the room heading towards Sam's office. As I approached the closed door and twisted the door handle I realized, it was locked.
"Sam open up!" I knocked a few times. It took her about a minute before opening and I was really wondering why it took so long.
"Heeey beautiful!" She peaked her eyes from behind the door out of breath and sweaty as if she had run a marathon but smiling like an idiot. Her smile infected my lips and I started giggling.
"Hi! What's- What is happening?" I entered the room slowly in complete shock at the sight of all the papers on the floor and the map drawing on her white board. There were sticky notes and drawings everywhere, the white board looked like a mess of information.
"Oh my god, this is it. You've officially gone mad Sherlock" I said while looking around with my arms gesturing with open hands at all the chaos in the room walking carefully to avoid stepping on what seemed to be everything inside her mind on paper covering every single inch of the floor. There was barely any place to step even if I tried tiptoeing.
She leaned back on the table and rubbed her face against her palms pushing her hair straight back from her face with both her hands and running her fingers through her hair.
"Maybe I am going bad- mad, I mean" She says placing her palms on the edge of the table pushing a coffee cup onto another making a clinking noise.
"How many cups have you had?!" I exclaimed looking at the four visible cups from my point of view.
"Seven, I think" She lifted her arm and counted the cups of coffee. "Eight".
"That's a remedy for a heart attack! Okay, enough with the bad Sherlock Holmes habits from caffein abuse to the murder investigation looking map you've stretched on the floor. We're taking a break and grabbing something to eat. Let's go!" I said determined as she looked at me with a long face. "NOW!" I shouted as she laughed standing up and dragging her feet towards me swinging her arms around my waist and pulling me tight.
"I love it when you're bossy" She slurred quietly almost like she was drunk and hugged me leaning her head on my chest. I kissed her head gently and hugged her back. That poor little angel was sleepy and tired and if I knew her correctly no matter how mushy and soft she was, she wasn't going home any time soon, but she was on caffein high that was about to crash sooner or later. Who's Sherlock Holmes now?
"Want to order pizza?" I muttered in her hair as my lips were pressed on her head.
"Anything sounds good right now, I'm so hungry" She replied softly.
"Yeah? Joel said he was too, come on let's leave our offices for a bit" I said thinking that we could leave to the pizza place and get some fresh air.
"No no, no. I am not leaving this office until my plan is sorted love." She said pulling back and looking at me with sleepy puppy dog eyes. "But we can get some take away and sit in the conference room instead of eating in this mess" she looked around at the papers on the floor and the messy desk. There was even paper taped on the entire edge of her desk, ludicrous. She called me love and apart from the hug that already set fire to my body, that word ignited a nuclear explosion. I was definitely not going too fast, but was she? Neither of us were the type who said things that we didn't mean and I wasn't worried about that, but I also didn't want to fit the stereotype of an Ûber-Lesbian that U-hauled after the first kiss. Then again, it was just a nickname that I didn't have to read into and frankly I didn't think it was inappropriate.
"Sure, whatever you feel like" I replied casually without showing the extreme attraction towards her that was pumping in my bloodstream.
"Aren't you hungry? Aren't you tired?" She looked at me suspiciously.
"Me? Tired?" I paused thinking of a reply and redirecting my thinking from between my legs to my brain. "What is this strange concept you speak of Sherlock?" I said imitating Dr Watson, Sherlocks friend or rather sidekick in the movies, not that I was her sidekick, you get the gist.
"God I can't with you and your impossible energy" She cried frustrated but with a smile on her lips looking away. "It's like you run on sharp-witted comments and good looks" She leaned in, kissed me and let her tongue slip into my mouth and linger. I squeezed her waist without ever wanting to let go and pulled her in as much as I possibly could. Her tongue was playfully caressing mine, making me forget we were at the office instantly. My hands traveled across her body and I instinctively tried unbuttoning her shirt.
"Ap- ap- ap" She stopped me and pulled back smirking. "Someone is in the mooood, you're not running on energy; you're running on hooorny energy" She dragged the words as she giggled and brushed my shirt a few times to get rid of one of her hairs that had gotten stuck on my chest.
"Let's just order that pizza" I said diverting the conversation and started walking towards the door with my arm around her waist gently rubbing it up and down.
