Chapter 8

"Now go clean the elders den and the nursery, you three don't need to be rude to your leader, you know it would backfire" MushroomBuzz snarled at the three toms "And go get me some moss for my den as well, No Thorns." The three toms walked out of the camp, there tails down and ears pinned to the back of there head, not pleased at all. HawkStar padded back to MushroomBuzz and mewed "So, about ViperKi-" MushroomBuzz mewed before he could finish his sentence "Yes, I'll take her as my apprentice, I was planning of it anyway." HawkStar shook his head and mewed "Really, Great, Thank you MushroomBuzz And we got those cats to do something useful" HawkStar flicked his tail, pointing at the three toms cleaning out the elders den. MushroomBuzz giggled as she watched the toms clean and looked at HawkStar "I'll watch them, It's quite fun." HawkStar chuckled and nodded "Very well, MushroomBuzz."

ViperKit watched the toms clean out the nursery, she was a lot stronger now. She padded over to the toms and mewed "Get to work, you need to clean it out by moon-high, With the gathering and all, I would like to sleep in a nice clean nest." The three toms looked at her with sharp eyes, trying to scare her, but she sat up straight and hissed "Get to work, Now." EnderSlash rolled his eyes and continued to clean out the nursery, as ViperKit giggled at them. HawkStar watched this happen, he was chuckling slightly then sat up straight and mewed "Let all cats old enough to hunt in the shadows, gather beneath Shade Rock for a clan meeting"

All the cats gathered around, EnderSlash, FrogLeap and RuneFall sat in the back, messy, ruffled fur and flecks of moss speckled their pelts. HawkStar mewed proudly "This has to be my favorite part of being leader, Knowing my clan will stay strong." He quickly took a breath before mewed "Today, four kits have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become apprentices, ViperKit, TreeKit, SunKit and SteelKit, step forward please." The kits stepped forward and looked up at HawkStar, with pride. "From this point on, until you earn your warrior names you shall be called, ViperPaw, TreePaw, SunPaw and SteelPaw. Shall StarClan watch over and protect these young cats." The clan cheered the young cats names, HawkStar flicked his tail, calling for silence "Now, MushroomBuzz, Will you take ViperPaw as your apprentice, Train her the way your mentor did, and teach her to learn past the rivalry of the clans, and heal all cats equally, even at the cost of her life?" ViperPaw looked at MushroomBuzz, shock in her eyes, MushroomBuzz smiled and mewed "I will teach her the way, OwlScreech did for me." ViperPaw smiled and leapt down touching noses with her mentor. HawkStar gave the other apprentices mentors and leapt from Shade Rock and mewed "DustFall, can you do a border patrol?" DustFall replied "Yes, HawkStar." From then, everything went...Wrong.
