A few days after GlowStar was killed, three kits reached their sixth moon and were ready to become apprentices. “Let all cats old enough to hunt in the shadows, gather beneath Shade Rock for a clan meeting” HawkStar yowled, calling to his clan. As the cats gathered around, a mother in the back was flattening her kits fur; they wiggled away from her as HawkStar started to talk. “Today has to be one of my favorite days, when kits are old enough to become apprentices, so I can tell this clan will be strong and always will be, So RedKit, SmallKit and SoaringKit step forward please.” HawkStar waited as the three small kits padded up next to him, proudly, “From this moment on, until you three earn your warrior names, you shall be known as RedPaw, SmallPaw and SoaringPaw. Now for mentors, DustFall, You are ready for another apprentice, I trust you to teach RedPaw all you know, EnderSlash, You will mentor SoaringPaw, As you seemed interested in this apprentice, Teach her all you know about hunting and fighting, SmallPaw your mentor will be SwiftGale, She is energetic and swift like you, I hope she teaches you all she knows about speed and skill.”
As the apprentices leapt down to go near their mentors, touching noses with them before sitting down, the clan chanted their names in respect, their mother chanting the loudest with her mate, EnderSlash. HawkStar mewed “The time has come to appoint a new deputy, I say these words before StarClan so they may agree with my choice, DustFall, do you promise to lead this clan moon after moon after I die, Do you promise to stay fair to the clan and always follow the warrior code?” DustFall looked up, shocked then shook his head and mewed “I do.” All the cats in the clan chanted the new deputy’s name, happily.
HawkStar waited for his clan to go quiet again before continuing, when the clan went quiet he mewed “NeonPaw step forward please.” The young she-cat stepped forward, looking up at her leader with pride. “I, HawkStar, leader of DarkClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice, She has learned the way of your noble code, and I commend her as a warrior in her return. NeonPaw do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this clan, even at the cost of your life?” NeonPaw looked up at HawkStar with pride and yowled “I do.” HawkStar smiled and mewed “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. NeonPaw, you will be known as NeonGlow and StarClan honours your Faith and spirit, and welcomes you as a full warrior of DarkClan.” The clan cheered the new warriors name, NeonGlow watched the clan cheer her name, smiling.
HawkStar looked around the camp, only to see three cats standing at the exit of the camp, HawkStar mewed to them “Hello? What so you need?” The one cat mewed “HawkFlight, you know what I want, I want your trust back, we didn’t want to follow his, He was Core’s mentor. You know this.” HawkStar looked at the brown tom and remembered how it was, EnderSlash glared at the three new cats and snarled “You’re now welcome here, you should know this, Remember what GlowStar said, If we see you we can kill you.” HawkStar shot a glare at his clanmate and snarled “Well GlowStar is dead, and I’m leader now, so you can shut your mouth and stop talking or you’ll have a problem with me.” A she-cat padded over to EnderSlash and mewed “Come on, Ender, you don’t need to fight with the leader right now, you can do that later.” She smirked, padding away, her tail running down his back, he gave in and followed her away. HawkStar watched him leave and turned back to the three cats, and padded to the toms shoulder and sniffed in carefully, then licked his shoulder and mewed “RuneFall, I was hoping you would come back, I’ve missed you, I’ve missed all of you, So what brings you here.” The she-cat mewed and walked forward and licked HawkStar’s ear and mewed “HawkFlight, I’ve missed you, why did GlowStar send us away, we didn’t kill him, DirtFang did.” HawkStar sighed and licked her shoulder back “I know, But what brings you here?” He asked, She smiled and mewed “We’ve come to ask, if we could join back, We can’t live as rogues anymore, we can’t find food and when we do, some other cat takes it from us or it’s not enough for us all.” HawkStar looked at them closely and sighed “You three took very bad, come and eat, I’ll call a meeting.”
