"Daddy! Daddy!" The little dirty blonde haired girl yelled as she ran towards her dad.

"Hi baby! How was school?" Her dad asked.

"Good." She mumbled out as she hugged her dad.

Vinnie smiled down at the little girl who looked so much like her mother. Emily had left after their, well his daughter, was born. She wanted nothing to do with either of them. It was Vinnie and his baby against the world now

"That's good." Vinnie answered, standing up with the little girl in his arms.

Vinnie held her in one arm and carried her little bookbag with his free hand. He had started to walk towards the car when someone yelled his name.

"Mr. Hacker!" The teacher yelled.

Vinnie turned around to see her running up to him with his daughter's coat.

"Bear left this in the classroom." She said, handing the coat to him.

"Thank you." Vinnie said, finding it weird that she had rushed away so quickly.

That's when he saw the tiny piece of paper tucked away in the pocket of his daughters coat.

"Ooo someone likes you daddy." Bear giggled.

"You think so?" Vinnie asked, a smile spread across her face.

"Well yeah duh. She wants to be your girlfriend." Bear said as Vinnie strapped her in.

"Well daddy only has one special girl in his life. He doesn't need another one." Vinnie poked her nose.

"Who daddy?" Bear asked.

"You babygirl." Vinnie chuckled, kissing her cheek softly.

She smiled at him. The truth was Vinnie was scared to be with anyone ever again. He didn't want to be hurt and now that Bear was older, he didn't want her to be hurt either.

Vinnie got in the car, buckling his belt. He had thrown the piece of paper in the passengers seat.

"You should call her Daddy." Bear said as she bounced her feet to the beat of the song on the radio. That was something her mom did too.

"I don't know baby." Vinnie answered.

"But you want a girlfriend, don't you daddy?" Bear asked.

"I don't know if I do or not." Vinnie responded.

"Uncle Reggie said it was because you didn't want me to get hurt. But I want you to be happy." Bear said.

"I am happy. You make me happy." Vinnie said, tears were making their way to his eyes and he couldn't stop them.

"Did my mama make you happy?"

"Your mama made me very happy." Vinnie answered.

"Maybe Miss Avery could make you happy like my mama did." Bear said, she wasn't even paying attention to the music now.

"We'll see honey. I don't know if I'll call her. But, what do you want for dinner?" Vinnie asked.

"Whatever you want." Bear said.

"But it's your turn to pick." Vinnie said.

"Store food or diner food?" Bear asked.

"Whichever."

"Diner food." Bear was picking at her the leather of Vinnie's seat.

Vinnie nodded, smiling back at his little girl through the rear view mirror

"Oh daddy, my friend said you we're cute. She has a crush on you or something like that." Bear giggled.

"Oh does she now?" Vinnie asked, chuckling with her.

"Yeah. She wants to have a play date this weekend but its only so she can you." Bear said, breaking into laughter when her dad did.

Thats why he didn't need a girlfriend. His daughter was enough to make him happy.

I'm writing more like this one because Vinnie as a single dad is cute.
