"So you're just gonna get married and leave? I'm your bestfriend and you just now thought to tell me?" Avery asked, tears pricking her eyes at the thought of  Madison just leaving. She was only 19, her soon-to-be-husband being 21.

"I thought you'd be happy for me!" Madison said.

"If you're happy then I'm happy, but why wouldn't you at least tell me about it? You just expected me to be overly excited for you when you tell me that you're leaving in 5 days to another state that's halfway across the country?" Avery asked.

"You know what, screw you Avery. You're just jealous that no one wants to marry you and have a future with you. Forget we were ever friends and lose my number." Madison said, collecting her purse and storming out of the room.

Avery sat there, tears rolling down her cheeks silently. It was only then that she'd realized that she had lost her best friend.

——

"I'm scared mom, what if he doesn't like my dress?" Avery asked, trying her best to conceal her nerves.

"Avery, sweetheart, that man loves you and would be fine if you walked down the aisle in a trash bag. Don't worry about all of that." Kelly said, pinning up her last braid.

"But what if my makeup looks stupid and I make the pictures look horrible." Avery said.

"Honey, stop it. You look beautiful and he's going to think the same thing." Kelly said, pulling her very nervous daughter up by her hands.

"What are you so nervous about? Talk to me." Kelly said.

"I'm about to marry him, I'm vowing to spend the rest of my life with him. I don't want to ruin his day, its a lot of pressure." Avery said, smiling as her mother cupped her face with her hands.

"If he loves you as much as he says he does, then you don't need to worry about ruining his day." Kelly said, taking her daughters hand and walking with her to the doors of the church.

Paul stood at the door, holding his arm out when he saw his daughter walking to him so he could walk her down the aisle. Tears pricked his eyes as he laid eyes on her, the sight of his daughter in her wedding dress having to be the most beautiful sight he'd ever seen in his life.

"You look so beautiful." Paul let out through his tears, hugging her as tight as he could.

"Why are you crying?" Avery chuckled, wiping her fathers tears away.

"Because your not my little girl anymore." Paul chuckled.

"Daddy, that's nonsense, I'll always be your little girl. Even when you're no longer here." Avery said.

The doors opened, revealing her soon-to-be-husband standing at the end of the aisle. She could see his eyes swell with tears at the sight of her and a huge smile cover his face.

The photographer snapped photos from the back of the church, capturing the couples happiest day of their lives thus far.

"Vinnie, I thought for months what I wanted to write on this paper. It was so important that I put these words down because they represent just how excited I am to, soon, be your wife. I have never felt a love as deep as the love I have for you and I have never been more sure of a decision than the one I made when I said I'd marry you. Being your girlfriend and fiancé has been the absolute best experience of my life. I have never felt a connection so strong. I've never had someone be so willing to wait for me and be as patient as you have always been. The day you proposed to me at that beach with the glow of the sunset shining on your face will forever be stuck in my mind and in my last moments with you, the sight of your beautiful face that night is what I will think of. As much as I have enjoyed being your fiancé, I know I will enjoy being you wife even more." Avery read, delicately folding the paper with her vows up, handing them to her mother so she wouldn't be awkwardly holding them when he put her ring on.

"Avery, the day I met you I knew there was no one else in this world full of 7 billion people that I wanted more than you. The day I manned up and asked you to be my girlfriend, I realized no one else on this planet that would love me the you always have. I dream of everyday of waking up next to you, of spending the rest of my life on this Earth with you, and loving you the way I have always dreamed of loving a woman. I have never felt a connection as deep as the one I have with you. As long as I live, I will protect you from anything that could ever harm you. I have loved spending the time I've spent with you as your boyfriend, but I know that I'll love being with you every waking moment as your husband, one thousand times more." Vinnie said, handing the vows to his father.

The wedding followed through directly as planned........ almost. The minister asked the audience is anyone had any objections and without hesitation, a body from the back of the room flew up from their seat, saying they objected.

Avery's head turned, eyes widening at the sight of her ex best friend standing there, a smirk spread across her, already heavily aged face. 'Stressful marriage huh?' Avery thought in her mind but held her tongue.

"What is your reasoning Miss?" The minister asked.

"Avery was making out with a guy at a bar last night." Madison confidently stated, making the crowd gasp.

"Interesting, because my fìance and I were together last night. All night. The only time we were apart was this morning when we left to get ready and she was with her parents up until 10 minutes ago when she walked down the aisle. You can either sit down and remain silent or please leave." Vinnie spoke up, the part of his vows where said he would always defend her coming in to play.

Madison sank back down in her seat, clearly embarrassed. From there, everything went back to normal. The newly wedded couple walked down the aisle together. The crows left, allowing everyone to take photos. Everyone continued to talk while Avery and Vinnie went in to the dressing rooms to change into their outfits for the reception.

"Hey Avery, I'm really so-"

"Don't speak to her." Vinnie said, gently pushing his wife behind his body.

"I'm just trying to make things right." Madison said.

"If you want to make things better, then leave and never bother her again." Vinnie spoke.

Madison had no chance to speak again before Vinnie pulled her away with him to the door. They walked out of the church doors and to the car that would take them to the reception, leaving her bitter and, now divorced, ex-best friend to be miserable on her own.
