"Fayna? Is that you?" asked one of my closest friends, Julie

"Fayna? Is that you?" asked one of my closest friends, Julie.

I turned my body towards her as I took in her appearance.

Her long dreads were placed in a sloppy bun and her warm brown skin complexion didnt match the mood of her face as her lips were placed in a small frown.

Her usual go to go winged eyeliner and dark lips with lip gloss, were no where to be seen making her appearance a pretty rare sight to see. In all the 3 years I've known Julie, I have never once seen her without her go to go look of eyeliner and lip gloss so this was a first.

"Fay," she said softly as she rushed towards me giving me a warm gentle hug.

I nuzzled my head in her neck and felt my body ease as I started to cry in her embrace.

"It's going to be okay. It's going to be okay Fay," she whispered as she rubbed small circles into my back in an effort to comfort me.

I hugged her tighter as I continued to let out my tears.

...

"We've been worried sick about you," said Julie. We were now sitting in her car driving to her house.

"Sorry," I said as I bent my head down and began to pick my fingers.

"I even came to your house a few days ago but I was told by your mom that you weren't home," she said, her attention mainly on the road in front of her.

"I don't stay at home often," I said concisely as I looked out the window.

She glanced towards me but decided not to comment in which I felt grateful for.

"Still, I'm glad that I was able to meet you just now," she said as she turned her head towards me and attempted to give me one of her usual vibrant smiles.

The smile didn't reach her eyes.

It was at that moment that I realized how exhausted she looked. She had dark bags under her eyes and her face looked unfamiliar without her usual unique makeup. Her eyes looked tired and her once bright amber eyes looked dull in colour.

"Julie-"

"Oh the light turned green," she said as she quickly turned her attention from me and back towards the road again.

"How is Dahlia and Zachary doing?" I asked as I unconsciously started to pick my fingers once again.

"Well you know how much of a worry wart those two are so other than worrying themselves sick about you, they are doing pretty fine," she said as she continued driving.

"I'm sorry for worrying you guys," I sincerely apologized.

I did feel sorry. I pushed them away for no reason and made them worry. I was so caught up with the break up that I didn't even once properly thought of my friends. I haven't even realized how much I missed them too...

"Hey," she said as she looked towards me for a brief second. "It's fine. The good thing is you're here now."

"Do you have your phone on you right now?" asked Julie as she turned the car into her home's driveway.

"Ah yeah," I replied.

"Can you call Dahlia and Zachary and tell them to come over please? They're probably rotting themselves in misery and worry so I feel like they'll be relieved when they see your call," she said to me.

I gave her a little smile, "Yeah I guess so. I actually kind of miss them..."

I took out my phone and looked in my contacts till I saw:

Meat-head

I clicked on the call button and immediately after just one ring the call went through.

"Fayna?!" said the girl from the other end.
