Ch. 1 - Trost Battle

Scarlett's POV

I rode between Levi and Hange; the wind combed through my ponytail as I sat upon Midnight.

"Heads up! The main unit of the Scout Regiment is back!" A man announces our presence.

"Look, it's Captain Levi! They say he's like an entire bridge by himself." Another man in the crowd fawns at Levi. I turn to face his dull gray eyes and his expressionless face.

"Tch. Spare me, please." Levi mumbled underneath his breath as I rolled my eyes at his comment.

"Look, it's Captain Scar! She is the female's strongest soldier!" Another man starts to fawn over my title. I smile and wave at the crowd. Now it was Levi's turn to roll his eyes.

"You could be nicer to your adoring fans, teacup." I tease him.

He gives me an unamused stare, "Tch." He clicks his tongue, before he started to ride ahead of me to be near Erwin.

'Life as a Survey Corps wasn't the easiest. Witnessing our comrades' countless deaths, their bodies would get ripped apart by the Titan's mouths. All I could do is watch and continue obeying orders.'

'I was placed under Levi's Squad. He was only a few years older than me, and let me tell you, he is actually quite rude and blunt; he often got on my nerves as we bickered with each other back and forth. Despite our arguments, he became a close friend of mine. For the next three years, we trained and continued expeditions. This was a routine life. Better than my old life, that is for sure.'

'Then, in the year 840, Wall Maria was breached by the Colossal and Armored Titans. Thousands of lives perished, we got moved into Wall Rose. We lost many lives trying to reclaim Wall Maria, including many of our veterans. Erwin promoted Mike, Hange, and myself as Captains, we each gained our very own squads. I was immediately stationed in the Northern District of Trost to annihilate any stray Titans that emerge from the South. I gained a group of 35 cadets, I was entrusted with their lives. I will do everything in my power to never lose any of them. I had to say goodbye to Levi, Hange, and Mike as they were ordered to stay alongside Erwin in the Southern District of Wall Rose.'

'Recently, Erwin came to Trost in aiding my squad in annihilating a mass crowd of Titans that reached in the Northern District. It was rather quick and efficient. Thankfully, no casualties were suffered. Now we are on our way to the capital to report our expedition.'

"Trouble in paradise?" Hange gets closer to me with her horse, giving me a sly smirk.

"Quit it, Hange. It's not like that, okay?" I try dismiss the topic all together.

"Sureeeee. Whatever you say, Scar. You totally don't have any feelings for Le.."

I cut her off, "Wasn't the ten-meter abnormal crazy looking! If we got a hold of him, what would you have named him?" I changed the topic that would capture her attention.

"Sawney! Or maybe Beanie! Ah, they're both such good names; I can't wait for Erwin to allow me to capture more Titans for my research purposes."

I sigh of relief, knowing I successfully changed the topics. 'Hange is my best friend. She knows me better than myself. I mean, Levi and I are only comrades... nothing more.... My squad is top priority right now. I don't need to be chasing a stubborn, blunt, rude, clean freak of a man who wouldn't feel the same way anyway... right?'

"What do you think?" Hange asks, with a huge smile plastered on her face. I accidentally zoned out there for a moment and didn't hear anything after getting more Titans for her research purposes.
