Ch. 9 - What In The Sexual Tensions Is This?

Scarlett's POV

Last night, I studied the new formation my squad will be handling. I wake up bright early before the sun is close to rising, 'I really need to train today, it's been a few days.' I get up from my bed stretching, as I go pick up my folded uniform on the couch and get dressed.

I brush my long black hair into a tight bun. I make my way through the door and head outside to train before I meet up with the squad. I do some stretching exercises and start running two laps around the track. I stop afterwards, I still need to save more energy for training the cadets. But it's so peaceful to take a run while the sun is rising. I take a deep breath of the fresh air, and take a gulp of water. I notice in the window a figure is looking at me. I can't tell who it is.

I shrug it off, as I go ahead inside to take a quick shower and join everyone for breakfast at the dining hall. I make eye contact with Adrian sitting with Daz and Ryan. I make my way over to them, "Morning."

"Morning, Captain."

I take a seat next to Adrian, "We better eat up! I will go over our battle formation today and we need to train the new recruits."

They nod as we all start to stuff our faces, enjoying our food and talking.

"When are you gonna tell Diana about us, already?"

Adrian spits out his drink, "Ryan!"

"Sorry. Delilah."

I hand Adrian a napkin to clean up his spit. Instead Ryan takes the napkin from my hand, and begins to clean Adrian's shirt and pants. "Such a kid, Adi!" I watch as Adrian turns bright red, me and Daz give each other a look.

I stand up, minding my own business to the extreme "My squad, please meet me outside on the track field." I sound off in the dining hall to gain their attention. I start walking outside, Adrian following me close behind, possibly ignoring Ryan.

As we walk outside to the track field, I give Adrian a nudge to grab his attention, "He's a bit rowdy today."

"To say the least.."

We reach the track and my squad forms up for our morning training, I stand in front alongside Adrian, "At ease!" Everyone relaxes. I pull up the formation map, "While we are digesting our breakfast, I will go over the new formation for the upcoming expedition. This expedition will occur in 2 months time. We are to split up in two groups. Ash and Daz, you two will be in charge of rear reinforcements." I start to list the eight names that will be a part of their group.

"The second group will consist of the rest of everyone else. You will manage the middle and support the right flank of the formation. Adrian and Ryan will be in charge."

"Captain, where will you be?" Reiner asks me, the rest also curious.

-Flashback-

"Erwin, I am here to pick up the new formation map." I announced while walking in his office.

"Scar, for this expedition, I want you to team up with Levi and his special operation squad."

"But Erwin, what of my squad?"

Erwin pulls up a map, he explains to me that he wants me to delegate my most trusted soldiers in two groups; rear reinforcements and the middle/support right flank.

"You and Levi will be in the center of the formation. You will announce to your squad that you will be in the right upper flank. This way it can help us weed out culprits and cause confusion and help ensure the safety of Eren's proper location."
