Ch. 13 - Cracked Teacup

Scarlett's POV

Two more weeks have passed by. Luckily for me, I didn't hear any gossip or chatter about my incident. Though I am sure I have Hange to thank. We have been given liberty day, we decided to take our squads into town to let them have a relaxing day.

I get dressed, a white long-sleeved flowy blouse tucked in my red knee-high skirt. I let my black hair down for a chance. I slip out of my office, to make my way to the barracks and pick up my squad. I open the female barracks door, "Everyone ready?"

"Yes, Captain!"

"You all look lovely! Let's go get the boys."

We head to get the boys, and now I see my whole squad all wearing civilian clothes, 'It's so nice to see them excited. They really need a break. Myself included.' "Okay, follow me, everyone." I guide everyone to the horse stables, where the entire Regiment is gathered. I look at the sky; sunny weather, I take a big whiff of the fresh air. We all get on our horses and make our way to town.

Adrian reins his horse to be by my side, "Scar."

I smile at him, "Adrian! I'm gonna assume you will go see Delilah and Luna?"

"Yes. Some of us will go spend time with family. Daz's girlfriend is traveling to Trost to spend time with him."

I smirk, I turn to look in Daz's direction, "Daz! You better marry that girl before she changes her mind!"

"I have been wondering what Sara looks like." Ryan playful elbows Daz.

I see Daz's face flush bright red, "Ma'ammmmm!"

I laugh, "That's an order!" I gain laughter from Adrian, Ryan, Ash, and Ems. Adrian reins back to Ryan, as they start talking. To my right I see Hange talking to Moblit. To my left Levi is talking to Petra, everything between the two went back to normal. 'I am so glad. I should talk to Levi after the expedition of giving one his squad member the second in a command position.' My view is blocked by Reiner who comes to me seemingly from out of nowhere, "Scar!"

"Reiner!" I return his smile.

"What are your plans for today?"

"Oh Um. Just roam around really. What about you? You have a family or a special someone?" I wiggle my eyebrows at him

He nervously scratches the back of his neck, his face turns a slight shade of red, "No and no."

Adrian's POV

"Yeah, Josh is dropping little Ry over," Ryan exclaims.

I notice Reiner making his way to Scar... 'I have a bad feeling about him... he is trying to spend any spare time he has with her.'

Scarlett's POV

We reached down, we all hooked up our horses in a community stable. I turn to face my squad, "You are dismissed! Be sure to come back before sundown. Have fun! Just please don't get in any trouble." With those words, everyone started to disband. I look over to Levi, Hange, and Miche who just finished dismissing their own squads.

I decided to go into the main square of the Trost. I go through the different stands looking at their products. I turn to notice and see many beggars and a few children who look starved... sullen faces and hopeless eyes that bare right through your soul.
