"I don't understand" I say with a frown.
"About what?" Eurea raised a brow, amused. She placed her bow on the ground, silver and gems glistening in the sunlight. The training ground is silent, the air calm and serene.
"You told me you didn't like anyone. And now the talk about your betrothal is on every lips in the kingdom." The handmaidens gush about the precious pairing that they're about to witness. Even our soldiers talk highly about the said wedding. Eurea smirked, a hand on my shoulder now.
"Fix your stance now. Your father asked to make our session quick. The queen of El Malefico will arrive shortly."
"What's his name again?" I say, curious about this high born man that she's about to marry. Eurea laughed, her cheeks flushed as she avoided my gaze. "You seem to be quite fond of him. The name, Eurea." Her cheeks turned crimson red which didn't help with my unfed curiosity. I stood right in front of her with my brows furrowed. This whole betrothal thing confuses the hell out of me. She clearly claimed that she believes nought of marriages when we were little.
"Kierran." She sighed with a dreamy stupid look on her face whilst I looked at her dumbfounded. "Yes, Cielle. Kierran. The guy that stole my triumph during the solitaire games." She stated as if that was all there is.
"You're weird." I muttered, letting go of the topic and proceeding with the training. The prospect of marriage and all the emotions involved didn't seem appealing to me. Eurea is a woman grown, I assume she knows what she's getting herself into.
"Just breathe Cielle. Breathe. Concentrate on your breathing. That's it."
With my eyes closed, I remained as still as possible. I feel weightless. I feel calm. Raising one foot, I tightened my grasp on the leaf-shaped blade on my right palm. Inhale. Exhale. Again.
With a swift motion, I made a cut on my palm with my eyes still closed. I hear nothing else but the slow beating of my heart. I feel weightless. I feel calm. Warm liquid came gushing through my skin and I concentrated on doing what must be done.
When I felt the weight of the blade on my palm, I heard Eurea's sigh of relief and I opened my eyes to see her smile. Raising the blade to my eye level, I inspected it for precise measurements. Eurea whined in complain but I paid her no mind.
Bright and stiff. The small sword felt balanced on my grasp. There's a small imperfection on the edges but when I touched the tip, it cuts. The blade drank my blood faster than light and gleamed under the sunlight. Finally, I did it.
"What is that?" A small voice erupted from nowhere, taking me off of my concentration causing the blade to liquify and splatter. A pool of blood decorated grass and soil in just a matter of seconds.
"Pixies, the fck is a kid doing here?" I couldn't help but curse. Eurea had her brows furrowed herself but she didn't let my hostility escape.
"Language, Cielle." The frown on my face only worsened when another kid, older than the other, emerged out from the bushes. Seriously, who are these children? Both wore leather and fur, as if they just came from a long journey.
"Don't curse my brother with your worthless mouth" The new one spoke with his eyes narrowed at me. The Prince of El Malefico. I raised a brow while Eurea spoke before I make the situation worse.
"That's enough. Cielle, clean this up, your guests have arrived." I was about to complain when she raised a hand to stop me from talking any further. "Do it now and show courtesy to these two Princes"
