The word about the fall of El Malefico's queen brought grief and fear to the people and to the royal family. She was their closest companion, or so I heard.

The king commanded it of me. If worse comes to worst, kill everyone that is a threat to the Heisenberg family. That is the command that he left after had queen died. It was said a fatal illness killed her. Even in a country that keeps us all immortal, queens die all the same.

It was over a moon's turn when I woke up staring at the clear blue sky, remembering only a name so queer on my lips. Adelaide. I am Adelaide, yet I do not know who she really is.

She's strong, powerful beyond her years, deadly quick, and men fear to gaze upon her. Not that she's monstrous to look at, but her eyes reminded them of the fire that consumed their kind a long time ago. I see the fire too, when I look at myself in the mirror. I see her. But I do not know her.

All that I am certain is I am alive and well. I serve the royal family with outmost loyalty and bravery. I will fight for them, no matter how much of a stranger they are to me. I do not plan on dwelling of who I have been, of who Adelaide truly is. I can breathe, so I am alive.

"Adelaide are you planning on spacing out all throughout the night?" Apphia's whines were staring to get into my nerves so I tried to look as calm and bored as possible. She stood right in front of me, in her gown and smiles.

The hall is packed, with royalties and the townspeople all alike. A feast to celebrate the coronation of the Queen Hermanie Adair. Her name sounds so familiar that I often think of what her relationship to Adelaide from the past might be. As the Princess's arm in command, I was instructed to keep an eye on her until the night was done.

Yawning, I thought of how inconvenient this is for the training on the morrow. Fresh recruits are to be trained in the morning and this is going to keep me up all night, considering the Apphia's mood. "I ought not to dance, Princess" She frowned at my response. The woman is restless.

Each Heisenberg Prince and Princess has one shadow or an arm in command. To protect them and kill for them if need be. I hope Apphia marries off so that I'll have the honour of guarding her other sister. Sapphira's much calm and composed. She have long married the pages of her books so she won't be much of a trouble, as long as she keeps her head down and read. She'll be in need for a shadow soon enough. Fraser, her arm in command is indisposed. For what reason, the royal family have kept other shadows like me in the dark.

"You're no fun tonight hmp anong sinabi ni Papa?" She whined in her small irritable voice.

"Wala" I denied. She just rolled her eyes.

Drowsy, I closed my eyes for more than a minute. How long is this feast going to last? Courses were served earlier and now their royal scummy feet have danced long enough.

I cursed when the Princess was already gone. Pixies.

"Fuck."

I bumped my shoulder with a man and cursed once more. He's wearing a victorian suit in the colours of grey and blue. His eyes widened and I bowed down to offer my apologies. He was about to say something but I have already turned my back on him and continued my search for the Princess.

She's just in the hall. She's still in the hall. Fuck. The king will hear of this insolence. After what seemed like hours, I found her conversing with someone I presume is a member of the royal family. He wore finery fit for a Prince. His back was on me and I had the perfect view of Apphia's flirty gestures. I breathed out a sigh and stopped a few feet away from her.

Apphia was giggling over some nonsense and judging from how the man's shoulder was shaking, he's also laughing. I glared at Apphia when our eyes met and she just gave me a toothless smile. I rolled my eyes and stepped forward when she motioned for me to approach. The man turned around and for a half second I hesitated.

I couldn't read his expression. He looked at me as if he's staring at a ghost. I avoided his eyes as much as possible and I made my way towards them. Apphia's smile seemed to have reached the sky that it annoyed me. The man stood taller than the both of us. His built is strong and his face comely. All Princes are handsome, nothing new.

"Adie, this is Prince—"

"Kaisen" I blurted out without ever thinking. The fuck are you saying Adelaide. I cursed myself over and over. Apphia stopped while the man raised his brow with an amused expression waving on his face. This one is dangerous.

"What?" Apphia whispered. I remained silent for I feared of what I would say.

"She didn't eat much, pardon for her behaviour my Prince" I raised a brow. Her Prince? Such revelation there.

The man eyed me warily and there's something in his eyes that made me feel so small. But I faced him with my chin held high, as if I'm some high born lady or Princess. I cursed under my breath when I forgot to exhale. Slowly, I let air out and almost choked when I saw him still staring at me.

Apphia was blabbering about some nonsense whist I battled a staring contest with the Prince. Not hers, if truth be told. He looked away, smirking and I celebrate my triumph. I always win.

While Apphia was still in the middle of her nonsensical story, he chuckled. Low and smooth that it made the hair at the back of my nape stir. He looked at me with a smirk on his face, as if Apphia was not there, as if everyone but ourselves was not there.

"You haven't changed, Cielle." He said as images flooded my mind.
