"Hello hello!" Carly answered her phone with an excited tone of voice.

"Did-Did you know?"

"Sam?" Carly giggled. "Know what?"

"Freddie." Sam sighed. "Did you know he was gonna do that to me?"

Carly feigned innocence. "Do what?"

Sam sighed again. "Freddie asked me- Freddie tried to- He proposed! Did you know he was gonna propose?!"

Carly giggled again. "He called me an hour ago! I'm so happy for you g-"

"I didn't say yes!" Sam yelled into the phone, gripping it tightly with a shaky hand. "I said no, before he even asked me I said no. Why didn't you warn me?! We're supposed to be best friends! You should have told me!"

Carly's happiness and excitement vanished when she heard her best friend crying over the phone. "Sam, I couldn't tell you. It was a surprise, proposals are always surprises."

"I don't like surprises! I don't like being caught off guard like that! How can I be ready if I don't know?! I can't defend myself against a surprise attack!" She shouted, her voice cracked, even though she was angry the sadness she felt was louder.

"Attack? Sam, Freddie didn't attack you? He loves you! He wants to spend the rest of your lives together!" Carly sighed. "What is this really about? Why would you say no? You love him, and you wanna be with him forever, right? I-I don't understand what the problem is Sam.. Why are you upset?"

Sam swallowed hard and made a fist, but Carly couldn't see it. "What the he'll makes people think they have to get married? Why can't we just- Getting married doesn't mean you'll be together forever!" She snapped.

Carly sighed. "I see.. You're scared." She took a deep breath. "Sam, you don't have to be afraid. You and Freddie are not your parents. You have to believe in your love and you have to trust Freddie, he won't leave you." Carly chuckled. "I mean he stuck around this long, after everything you've done to him, and he still loves you. You have wrestled him to the ground, pushed him out of a plane, slapped each other in the face, and insulted him every day of our lives and he still loves you." Carly raised her voice to get her point across. "You drive each other crazy and sometimes you make each other miserable and yet, you still love each other! That's all that matters, Sam! You're in love!"

Sam sniffed. "Yeah but-"

"Sam, you have given that boy every reason to leave! Every reason you can think of to push him away, including using him as your own personal punching bag, and he still stays because he still loves you! He won't leave you! I promise he won't! I never will and neither will Freddie Benson!"

"I-I have to go- I need to talk to-"

"Go! Call me later and tell me about it!" Carly shouted then she hung up.

Sam put her phone in her pocket and run back to her apartment building. The elevator was taking to long so she ran up the stairs until she reached her floor, then she ran to her apartment. She searched her pockets for her key and realized she forgot it. "Dammit!" She started banging on the door. "Freddie! Freddie! Answer the door!"

"What?" Freddie opened the door and saw Sam shaking with sobs on the other side. "Sam?" She collapsed into his embrace wrapping her arms around him. "Sam, what are you-"

"Please. Please, don't leave me." Sam sobbed into his chest. "I'm sorry."

Freddie's frown became a soft smile as he sighed in relief and put his arms around her. "I wasn't planning on it. I'm sorry I sprung that on you. I was trying to surprise you, but I know you hate surprises. I should have done that differently. But when you ran out- I felt like you were going to leave me. I was scared you wouldn't come back. My world crashed around me."

Sam gripped the back of his shirt. "No, I was- I don't know. I was scared."

Freddie pulled back enough to make her look at him. "Scared of what?"

Sam sniffed. "Marriage." She gulped. "It- It doesn't mean you'll be together forever and it- it ruins things. People get married then all they do is fight."

Freddie chuckled. "That's all we do anyway. Sounds like we've been married forever." He joked, but Sam didn't crack a smile. "Sam, fighting won't break us up or make me leave. We've already overcome that. I know marriage can be scary and feelings are scary, but I'm always here for you. I'm not going anywhere." He smiled. "So, Samantha Puckett, will you marry me?" He asked her seriously.

"Yes."
