Black and white
I see the world in black and white
Right or wrong, with no in-between
Heaven sent or hell bound, there is no purgatory.
The last thing you see before you die is black or white;
Are you a sinner or a saint?
When I met you that night, I came in black and white,
The same as you.
I am black but try to be white, you being grey.
I put on white shoes for you, for this journey was new
and begging for adventure would someday turn into begging for an answer;
We took a walk where minutes melted into days,
until days stretched into weeks where weeks become months.
Our shoes were broken in with every smile, each disagreement
until yours were almost as black as the street we walked on
and mine as grey as your hair would be someday, but I'd never see it.
Rosy pink skies turned bruise purple
Clear blue days filled with grey clouds that leaked into the ocean.
The final few steps in our walk ended where the sky met the sea,
Where heaven and hell both could not exist together.
