Who They Became

Every little girl has a dream,

Some vow to know true love

Others want all of the toys in the store.

I tell you,

girls who wear white live a life of chastity and abstinence,

never falling far from the sunlight,

these are angels.

They will always walk closer to the inside of the sidewalk,

never sleeping without a night light.

Girls who wear black want to see,

 to taste,

to feel everything.

They will live a life of greed and lust because they live in the moment,

we are seen as devils,

we are the girls parents frown at upon meeting.

The girl in white sips water from a crystal glass

The girl in black knocks back a third burning shot of a mind altering elixir

One girl will put the empty glass on the counter to be washed,

The other will break the glass,

 and then her skin to indulge in the humanity of feeling pain;

To feel pain is to be alive,

to bleed is to be human.

A girl in black wanted to know true love,

she had seen everything and everyone.

A girl in white needed to feel pain, to feel alive

The girl in white wanted everything and everyone.

No one is truly as simple as they seem, after all, the devil was once an angel.
