Present day
(Y/N) finished ironing out the last details of her suit. After a year of complaining, Matthew finally asked her why she didn't just make the changes she wanted herself. And so she did.
She added a lining to the inside that was much softer than the previous one and adjusted the fit to not be so form fitting. The small scuffs and tears were gone and it looked brand new. Even though her initial reaction to the name given to her by the press was pure distain, it was growing on her. She added a small 'DA' embroidery on her bicep, not super noticeable but just enough.
She pulled the smooth fabric over her body and zipped it up before strapping on her boots and grabbing her mask.
"Hey," she knocked on Matt's bedroom door. "I finished the last adjustments on my suit and I'm gonna take it for a test run, you wanna come?"
"I have work stuff to do. Don't die." He said from behind the door.
"No promises." She smiled before taking off into the night.
Usually, (Y/N) would bring at least a couple knives when she left her and Matt's apartment. Tonight, she wasn't looking for trouble and even if she encountered any, her strength and the small pocket knife in her pocket would most likely be enough.
The young woman was tempted to take off her mask to feel the light wind on all of her face but Matt's voice of reason was loud in the back of her head, quickly making the temptation disappear.
After she was entirely sure of her suits capabilities, (Y/N) sat on the edge of a building. As the comfortable air of early summer entered her lungs, she felt happy. True freedom was all she has known for a while. When no one knows who you are, rules don't apply to you. Well, as long as they weren't rules put in place by your roommate.
The thoughts of Peter's offer drifted back into her head, causing a feeling of guilt that had made a permanent home for itself in her head to make itself known.
She shook the feeling off when she heard footsteps coming from behind her. (Y/N) turned her head to see Matt walking behind her in his Daredevil suit.
"I thought you had work stuff to do?" She questioned the vigilante.
"I finished it earlier than expected." He answered.
(Y/N) nodded her head absentmindedly and looked over the city with a faint smile on her face. Matthew sat in the edge next to her.
"You look happy."
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion and she turned to face 'Matt'. "What did you say?"
"I said you look happy, you're smiling." He said like it was obvious.
"How do you know?" He hand moved to her pocket to grab the small knife she brought with her.
"Because I'm looking right at you, and you're smiling?" (Y/N) took a deep breath before taking the knife from her pocket, opening it, and holding it to his neck in one move. She pushed him down hard onto the roof and straddled his waist, still holding the knife to his throat.
"Who are you?" She demanded, he just laughed.
The illusion disappeared and the green eyes and black hair made her breath hitch. Her grip on the knife loosened and Loki seized the opportunity to knock it out of her hand and push her off of him. (Y/N) quickly came to her senses and jumped off of the roof, rolling when she hit the ground and groaning in pain before taking off down the street.
'This is bad. This is very bad.' She thought to herself as she ran. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a streak of blue and silver whiz past her.
