A man was tied down to a chair, balled up cloth stuffed in his mouth to keep him from making too much noise. His fingers were bent backwards, evidence of prior noncooperation. He was whimpering while the girl sitting in front of him just stared, unamused.
"Do you think that the whimpering is going to make me feel bad for you?" (Y/N) asked. "Because honestly it's just making you look stupid."
She stood up from the leather arm chair and walked up and down the bookshelves that lined the walls. One book seemed slightly out of place, when she picked it up a slight rustling of papers made her grin. The pages opened to a small compartment filled with folded papers and an identification badge. Aleksandr Sidrov, worked for HYDRA from 1997 til 2020.
(Y/N) walked back over to Aleksandr and dangled the badge in his face.
"I found what I was looking for." She said in a song-song voice. "Which sucks for you because honestly I'm just keeping you alive as a courtesy now."
Aleksandr started speaking but his words were muffled by his gag. (Y/N) looked at him and rolled her eyes.
"If you scream, I'm turning your knees into targets." She removed the balled up fabric from his mouth and sat back down before he began to plead with her.
"Please do not kill me! I swear I don't work for them anymore! I am different now, just please spare me!" His desperate words went in one ear and out the other for the girl in front of him.
"That's a really sweet argument but it's total bullshit." She grabbed a gun from the table behind her and mimed shooting it at him, making a "pew pew" sound with her mouth. "Are these all the files you have?" She asked, gesturing to the fake book that was open next to her.
He nodded frantically, causing (Y/N) to squint at him.
"Are you sure?" She cocked her head to the side. "Because lying to me would a dumb as shit decision to make right now."
"I'm telling the truth, I swear!" He cried.
"Well in that case," (Y/N) stood up and started untying him. "No use keeping you tied up." She smiled at him.
He massaged his sore wrists and went to thank her for her mercy. Unfortunately he had judged her too soon. A 9mm round in his forehead caused his lifeless body to slump to the ground.
(Y/N) kicked him lightly, making sure he was really down before snooping around a little more, making sure he was telling the truth.
She rifled through the bookshelves and drawers before finding a locked drawer that she broke into with the butt of a gun. Inside was another file labeled Stark. She grinned to herself and grabbed the file.
She packed the small pile of files in her bag and placed the HYDRA i.d. badge on top of him for whoever finds him to discover.
She left the small house and drove off in a black stolen car. As she drove back to New York, she blasted music through the cars speaker and nodded her head along to the beat.
The apartment stairs squeaked as she made her way up them. She looked to the ground when she passed a neighbor, shielding her face with the hood of her sweatshirt.
She dug through her pocket in search for her key. She did bring it with her, right?
Her knuckles rapped against the door repeatedly until it was opened. She pushed past a very tired looking Matthew and slumped down on the couch.
"You would not believe the day I had." She sighed.
"Where were you? I woke up and you were just gone." Matt's voice was laced with confusion.
"I had some stuff to do and that stuff just so happened to take place in Pennsylvania."
"Pennsylvania?" He was more than a little surprised.
"Yes, that's what I said. Please don't tell me you're going deaf too." She joked.
"I feel like if you're gonna leave the apartment, you should probably let me know." Matt informed her. "I was about seventy percent sure you were dead."
"Sorry to disappoint."
